Is it showing as connected on the network connections menu?

If it is, does it have an IP starting with 169.~~~.~~.~~?

Are you using a wireless connection?

Have you tried rebooting your Hub/Router/Modem.

Kinda hard to figure it out without seeing it but if you tell me everything you can about it i may be able to come up with something.

You could try power cycling which means unplugging the router then the modem and then plugging the modem and then the router back in make sure you do it in that order. I don't think that is necessary though as you are fine on the PS3 although it is simple so it doesn't hurt to try. I would also try restarting my computer to as that is an easy fix. You could try updating your network controller/adapter driver. Also what OS are you running?

im using windows xp with a wired connection. this has been going on for a while now and ive tried rebooting my computer many times, sometimes when i do this it comes up with my home page google but if i try to search for something or go to a different page it wont load, like the internet is frozen or something. it shows that its connected and everything's working fine. ill check if my ip starts with 169.

So google sometimes loads up but when you do a google search it cuts off?

Have you tried using other internet using programs such as MSN or Runescape Client, before even opening your browser.. if these connect then it could be the google search hack.

In this case you simple change your homepage to something like.

uk.msn.com or www.yahoo.co.uk

Let me know what happens before you change the homepage tho.

Have you been playing with the connection settings?

If so go into network settings (Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections) and reset the LAN connection settings to auto.

If that fails try this;

Start -> Run -> [type] cmd [hit enter]

[type]ipconfig /release [hit enter]

[type]ipconfig /renew[hit enter]

Open a browser and test to see if it works.

If that still doesn't work, reset the connection settings in the browser to auto detect.

And if that still doesn't fix it post back.

No. It is just loading google from the cache.

Would trying

Run -> CMD -> Ping www.google.com

Work? Surely that would establish if there is any internet connection at all or if there is a software problem?
