Spirit tree seed placement

Featured Replies

I was wondering where people would recommend I plant my spirit tree seeds. I was going plant them at Port Sarim, but now with the cabbage port being so close I'm not sure where I want to plant them.

The cabbage patch teleport might actually be kind of nice. You can use the ring to get to the tree, and then use the tree to go wherever very quickly.

I'd say, plant it in a place where it will be handy, but that you can't otherwise get to easily (say via teleport).

But then there's the question of how to use it. There aren't any default spirit trees that are easily accessible, so there's hardly a point in putting another one someplace hard to reach.

There's a spirit tree at the ge...that's pretty easy to get to.

It's kind of a run from Edgeville. Imagine being able to go straight from the cabbage patch to the GE! You wouldn't even need a glory charge.

I was thinking that Brimhaven would be a convenient placement for tree runs. Take the charter ship from the Catherby fruit tree patch to Brimhaven fruit tree patch, and then you have quick access to the Grand Tree for your next patches. (And then you can balloon to the Taverley tree patch.)

Yep. If you're planning on doing a lot of tree farming, take Brimhaven. The spirit trees in Varrock, Tree Gnome Village, the Stronghold and Brimhaven get you fairly quickly to a lot of tree patches. I consider the GE tree to be the easiest to reach (either Glory to Edgeville or tele to Varrock, which leads you past the normal tree patch).

If you do a lot of MTK, you could also consider using the one on Miscellania/Etceteria. Very fast from GE for a quick daily trip.

Definitely don't do that if you have access to fairy rings. It's further from where you want to be, making it effectively useless.

Not if you just need to update your percentage... Just weed the farming patch next to the spirit tree, pick the berries from your bush if you have one (as you should), and you can tele away. I myself put enough gold in the coffers to last me a month, so I don't need to take the trip to the castle every time. Fairy rings are quite a bit more hassle.

How do you figure? Quickest way to a fairy ring- teleport to slayer cave with ring of slaying, which places you ridiculously close to a fairy ring. Quickest way to a spirit tree- teleport Edgeville with a glory and run all the way into the GE to the spirit tree. Note: this method passes almost directly past a fairy ring on the way.

The code for Miscellania is CIP, which happens to take one click to enter. Then you're near the maples, which are easy to get percentage from, and right next to the castle for collecting stuff.

I suggest you reread my post and look on a map.

Yes, I know that the spirit tree patch is all the way across the island from the castle. If you mean the bush patch... berries are just not worth enough to sacrifice your only spirit tree on. You could put one on Brimhaven instead and use it to pick coconuts.

Heh, this is such an unconstructive debate... ;). Look, I'm not saying the OP has to put his tree there, I have mine at Brimhaven as well. I actually use 'your' method, the fairy rings, to get to MTK myself. But since I like to get to the bush as well, I can see the advantages of a spirit tree on Etceteria, should I not like to have it at Brimhaven.

can't you just put one in all of them? unless i read it wrong, i thought it was only that you could only have one growing at a time.

I just don't see the advantage to doing MTK with a spirit tree. Fairy rings are 100% better, nothing you've said has actually been a good reason to use the tree instead. If I had a tree on Miscellania anyway, without having to sacrifice anything, I would STILL use fairy rings. The run across the island alone would be enough to dissuade me from wanting to pick some cheap berries.

@Anon: no, you can only have one period.

Have it in Brimhaven if you dont have your house there, otherwise put it in draynor.

White berries are 697 each, as far as herblore secondaries go, they're in the medium price category. A poison ivy bush check gives you 674 + 180 farming xp, whiteberry 437 + 96. No, we're not talking about huge experience, but some farmers do take what they can get. Especially if it's effort free (and cost-free, as the seeds are dead cheap).

If you don't have to run up to the castle every time, the tree is pretty fast for a daily check-up visit, seeing as you can weed the farming patch for percentage (you don't have to cut the maples on Miscellania, you can also tend the farming patch next to the bush). A lot of people don't have slayer rings either for quick access to the fairy ring.

Like I said, I'm not saying people have to use the method, but it just doesn't go to pretend the tree on Etceteria has no merit whatsoever. I was merely pointing out the options of the two spots, considering that the Port Sarim one has been rendered useless by the explorer ring. Can we now drop this completely useless discussion, please? It looks like you're being stubborn for the sake of it.

Thanks everyone. Since I have 3 seeds, I'll try out Port Sarim for a week and then plant another at Brimhaven. I think Brimhaven will be my tree's final destination, but Port Sarim might suprise me.
