blakdragon39
Slayer is one of my favourite skills. :D Recently I've considered getting a dfs. I was so sure I wanted one, that I even started making the 20m or so I would have still needed to be able to buy it. I have 19m cash right now, and I want 30m before I buy it. However, since I've started doing nothing except making money for this shield, I've started to wonder. Is it really worth it? 25m is a lot to put into one item, and I decided I wanted to hear some convincing arguments from people who have owned one, that it is in fact worth it. So what are your opinions on getting a dfs, and the 25m cost to get it?
compfreak847
DFS should be a free, common drop, and defender should be 25m+. I've had a DFS for a long time, and I love the looks, but its worthless for melee. Maging\ranging in PVP where you are under attack is the one thing it is good for. +45 slash isn't worth a significant drop in attack bonus, and dd++ specs are far, far more effective in defender vs. DFS. So buy it if you plan to range or mage in PVP, but leave it in the bank any time you want to melee. Get 68 summon, and the small defence advantage will suddenly look even more insignificant. I virtually never have to pray melee on black demons in proslyte, aside from +15% strength, thanks to summons. I used to use DFS for everything, until I tried out my defender again. DFS has its (small) uses, but defender is king for anything melee. drek9
I have recently thought about buying one too. I'm sitting at 25m total. So I have enough to buy it. But, I think to myself, is it really worth spending that much on when it can drop at any moment? I'm kind of a cheapskate when it comes to buying items. The DFS is so unstable with prices that I am not interested anymore. I'm going to wait until it settles down at an appropriate price. no_way2go
Well it's definatly worth it while fighting dragons or mage-based-attack monsters (jelly, spiritual mage, ...) so I'd buy it if you got enough cash laying around, I'm considering to buy one for myself aswell, I'll try to earn it back by camping at iron dragons with it :P - Back to casual f2p scaping due to limited time (university and girlfriend ) -

So what are your opinions on getting a dfs, and the 25m cost to get it? For SLAYER, I highly recommend it.. For tasks where monsters hit high, a DFS and high defense is very nice (other monsters, defender will work fine, but this is for high level melee fighting).. It's probably one of the most useful all-around shields in the game.. I have owned one for a couple of months, and the bonus' are great.. I prefer one over a godsword, and its uses are more versitile also.. Try it out for yourself and see.. They're down in price right now, so you might even be able to make a quick buck if you end up selling it later (assuming you try it out and don't like it).. ~Zackdt
blakdragon39
Hmm... well I've heard a couple different things now. Thanks to everyone who's replied :D I'm definitely hoping to get more opinions though, so feel free to keep posting. :)
greene8535
Hm... It really depends what you are doing with it, just training would be ok, as long as the monster has low defense, as the strength bonus is larger than that of a defender... it's freaky awsome for tanking at aviansies or bandos, even soloing kree... you could just buy one, then sell if you don't want. I don't see the price dropping soon, as it has been at 25 mill for quite a while now, and supply=demand atm soz.... GL with cash!

If your using it with a monster with low defence, you aren't really using it to its full potential.
blakdragon39
I would only really use it for slayer, just so everyone knows. :)
Foooman
I wouldn't get it. At least if you are only looking at slayer. The only thing that I've found that will exponentially help slayer is cannonballs. Nothing else makes tasks faster/easier than a cannon.
Inuashakent
It depends on how you slay. Most likely you probably won't need it with a bunyip, so just stick with a defender. However, if your like me and like using Titans for slayer tasks... nobody likes using guthans. [Summoning guide (AOW)] [Slayer guide] [Melee & Brawl player]
