The Observer
http://digg.com/microsoft/More_security ... 98_than_XP Hmm, I'm not sure... If you think about it, it's quite possible as computers with Windows XP are more targeted as there's more chance that private information is stored on them. sloter
I think this is going to just end up in a doing anyone any good. I think you intent was good though in your question but, i would have to lock this before this turns the wrong way.

Nadril
Not sure why someone would use 98SE anyways considering how outdated it is. Any hacker with a bit of time could probably pretty easily find a flaw in it and microsoft wouldn't give two [cabbage]s because they don't support it anymore. ClareJonsson
Windows 98 has absolutely no security whatsoever. XP is definitely much more secure. XP had a bad patch though when MS had to halt production of Vista to concentrate on patching a bunch of security holes during a period they called "The summer of worms". SP2 was then released and since SP2 XP is much more secure. [Assist-X]
D. V. Devnull
Not sure why someone would use 98SE anyways considering how outdated it is. I can tell you exactly one, and only one, reason that someone would use Win98SE... Games (both DOS and Windows) and other applications that just will not run on the later OSes, period. (And this is even after trying with compatibility modes and such!) :geek: Other than that, there is basically no reason to do so. So I hope this note helps. :-w ~D. V. And by the way, use DOSbox for DOS games on XP if you love your nostalgia. [Tip.It Mod][Retired][Add your Steam name here!]
Nadril
Not to mention any DOS game that is even somewhat known will probably have patches to help it work in XP/Vista by the community. What you're really looking at is like the 1% of games that no one gives a [cabbage] enough to play anymore.
D. V. Devnull
Or the game is good, but lesser known... In which case, I'm shot in the foot for running in DOSBox or finding a patch (or source port) for it. ... BTW, you guys don't need to go all adversarial on me. -.- I know this question is a little side-railed, but I gotta ask....... BTW, anyone know of a patch to make the Windows version of "MechWarrior 2: Ghost Bear's Legacy" work? I know there's one for "MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat", but I don't know of one for the expansion. :anxious: ~D. V. chris1216
BTW, you guys don't need to go all adversarial on me. -.- You'd think that the fact that it keeps happening over and over and over again would clue you in. And as Mamong points out, DOSbox is more than enough to handle any DOS game on XP.
