Adding random people to friends list?---Bug

Featured Replies

I can't illustrate with a picture, but for some reason 5 random people are being added to my friends list daily. I haven't even added them nor do i remember clicking on thier name.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Happened to me and then I changed my pass.

Not happened since, but I wouldn't doubt if more people started showing up. I would recommend changing your password.

This is your problem... If you are scrolling along the chat, you may of accidentally click in the text box...

If you happen to click anywhere along the red line I badly highlighted, You automatically left click add friend, if someone is chatting... Now you can't see my mouse but it was next to the scroll bar... There is your problem...

Luck be a Lady

the theory hypothesized by the poster above me is correct, that can happen.

Lol it has nothing to do with your password, dont' worry.

It's a simple issue of lag. its not a glitch it happens in highly crouded areas, such as the grand exchange. the grand exchange is actually were half of my "friends" came from. when you click buy, and type in the item, once you click on it in the chatbox, whoevers name is underneath the item name after the window closes, is who you add. the game just lags and two clicks are sent, one for clicking the item, and one for adding the random person on your list.

i have experienced it as well, and trust me, no one is hacking into your acount and adding random people, because that would be so totaly evil!!

Interestingly enough this happened to me yesterday. I was alching in G.E and eventually notice a green dot on my screen, I go to see who it is and realize it is a random person who happens to be on my friend list. Very strange.

yes, very strange indeed. its happened to me so many times that i Changed my password daily and sometimes my recoveries. Do you think that jagex might monitor our accounts through a string of hidden players? (mods undercover?)

Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.

I figured out what it is :wall:

When you're buying something from the ge, and you make a search and click on the item, not only does it select the item that you clicked on but it also clicks on the line of chat BELOW the item search, and when you click on somebodies name it adds them if you don't have them added. So when you select an item to buy from the GE you randomly add people to your friends list, and you have the ge screen up so you dont notice :-#

Edit: I didn't read all of the posts and somebody beat me too it, lol

I am getting freaked out by this bug :? :wall:

better get back to having 100 people added

Happens quite frequently. Mostly when there's a bit of lag and I miss-click.

Disconformity.png

or maybe it could be a bug in the mysql db loading the a messed up friends list

its very possible especially in mysql as its unstable and [cabbage]y.

this was once a bug a few years ago

they fixed it when recruitment drive came out

so it could very well be the same thing again

it has happend to me more than 10+ times, and i mistakly add people. But i don't see how it happens so easyily
