123_x_pac Posted August 28, 2008 Share Posted August 28, 2008 Well, for some monsters(like Fire Giants for example)you would want better crush defence. So I would go with the d square for them. Other monsters, I would use the defender. And to get the d square,you have to finish Legends,buy the right half from some guy and either get the left half as a drop or buy it. D Jay99 Posted August 28, 2008 Share Posted August 28, 2008 I just use a rune defender for everything. Even if it's multicombat or a high level monster, I don't really care. It never fails me. There are no situations where I can see myself using a D[] and not being able to use a defender. What he said about Fire Giants, I still use my defender there and use guthans to heal. They don't hit that often, I find, and are not that hard to heal on using guthans. If you don't have access to guthans well thats why I gave the defender 99% of the time there is always that 1% just in case certain situations arise. Apparently, my signature was to big. It has only slightly higher defense bonuses than a rune berserker shield, which has only slightly higher defense bonuses than a Toktz-ket-xil. If you need high defense, use an obsidian shield or a rune berserker shield, or if you need something cheap, a rune kite shield. Of course, if you can afford it, the dragonfire shield is the best shield in the game for defense, although it is debatable that the rune defender is better than it for normal training also.
