Tbh...it doesn't look like you did much besides adding a C4D and a little bit of smuding. I know barely anything about smuding so don't take my word for it, just call it as i see it. If you want cc on smudging, talk to thru.

OT: All I see is a picture, slapped on a white or black or other colour background, with a C4d just sitting behind. #3 is your best because you have experimented with colour and and smudging. Don't be afraid to branch out to other things like different smudge styles and the like.

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as a jerk. It's just very odd to me to hear "smudging" talked about like it's some whole seperate technique.

This is the collab base, remove the C4D and text. I have the .xcf saved without C4D and text.

 

This is actually what shiny said. Some brushing, some blurring, some smudging, and a C4D.

Mind giving me the .xcf? I use gimp, so it isn't a prob. I'd like to see if I can do something, and i'll name it.

 

Couldn't do much, you have to create flow, like I have done with the yellow and purple lines. Colour is a big issue, never use black. I use Orange, Pink, Green or Purple most. Smudging, I had to delete the smudging behind it, sorry. And canvas size. 380x140 is my max. This helps composition, which is something I need to work on.

Even though it doesn't look much, I spent like 2 hours at least thinking, what I should do. Also erased, and totally redone image like 5-6 times.

The smudging just kills it IMO.

The Mario looks distorted, to me.

 

 

 

Also, on some of them, the backgrounds need some more crispness to them.

 

 

 

And one last bit, the text fonts need some work.

not really, there are TONS of ways to smudge, some hard, some easy. some basic, some technical. its nothing like as you said, walking. there are different levels of smudging.
