Best Barrows?

Alright. I really wanna get a set of barrows but can decide which.

 

 

 

Guthan's is sweet cause of the set effect but really expensive. (even though it's going down)

 

 

 

Dharok's is nice for low hp training.

 

 

 

Verac's gives a nice prayer bonus and cool set effect.

 

 

 

Torag's has a stinky set effect but the strongest armor. I've thought about getting this just for the defense bonus and skip the hammers. I don't take advantage of any of the set effects then. #-o What to do?

 

 

 

Also on the side, my friend has full verac's and and said he could hit 32 with 71 strength. Is this because of the set effect?

What will you be using it for? Slayer, monster hunting or general play? We really need more info for these type of questions :|

Sorry. Mostly monster hunting. And some training. I want something very multi-purpose.

If for general purpose, buy Torag's Platebody and Legs for the defense bonus (highest of all)

 

But Guthan's is brilliant, and as I mentioned before, price is going up (600k+ in 3 days) due to the manipulators buying it out.

 

 

 

But yeah, go with Torag's Platebody and Legs.

Does anyone have anything to say about the Verac's though? The set effect is "Melee attacks have a chance to ignore opponent's defence provided by their armour and the effects of their protection prayer."

 

 

 

Would the high hit be hitting through the armour?

The question is, why are going to spend time doing the most? If you are going to be monster hunting a lot, Veracs. If you want very high defence bonus, Torags. Although you are not limited to buying just one sets, hence all of these sets are good in different ways.

Get guthans for sure. The only part of guthans armour that has better stats than any of guthans is the legs(which are the same as Dharok's), so get either dharok or torags legs. Veracs is extremely useful for the prayer bonus and for duels(I wouldn't go into BH with it and risk the helmet, but w/e). Veracs skirt is the same as torags legs except for range defense, if I remember right. In my personal opinion, Dharok's is completely worthless, and so is Torags with the exception of the platelegs, which could be substituted for Dharoks.

 

 

 

So my rankings would be...

 

-Guthans

 

-Veracs

 

-Dharoks

 

-Torags(completely useless if you get full Guthans and Dharoks)

 

 

 

I just assumed that you were only considering the melee sets. For the other two, I would say get both of the tops/bottoms, and then use an archer helm and farseer helm.

If my understanding is correct(which there is a good chance that it is not) Veracs effect does NOT increase your max hit, it just makes you hit much more often and closer to your max more often, except when used against monsters with weak defense. Then it would have no effect...in theory.

I'd say Veracs, its good for day to day training or boss fighting because of its effect, and its got a prayer bonus, something which I don't think any of the other Barrows sets have, and its still got a pretty good defence given its price

 

 

 

And about your friend, I doubt he/she actually hit 32. I'm on 77 Strength, using a whip + barrow gloves + Black Mask on Slayer task + Dragon Boots + Rune Defender, and the most I've ever hit is 26.

 

 

 

Unless he/she potted or prayed, I don't think its possible to hit 32 with Veracs with 71 strength.

Well, if Guthans eventually levels out I would consider buying it. It allows you to train for longer periods of time and it's very helpful during hard quests. That's just my opinion though.
