For kent. Wasn't ment to be extremely fancy or anything. If you read the text, its supposed to be like a journal. There's also a mystery to it. :

Newer one. Thanks for comment about the text. I played around with it, and found stroking it with a 1px boarder and setting it to overlay works well. I then erased parts of it using a grunge brush on low opacity. I also faded the drawings of the familiars. I tried to make the tears look a bit more jagged. If you have a brush that works well for jagged edges, please tell me. ;) Oh yeah, I also made a transparent bg.

Looks really good IMO, but it looks like you got the teture off dA or something. Really good though if you did make it ;)

You obviously used a stock for the scroll. The text doesn't work in two ways: a) It doesn't really look that old (It isn't faded) and B) It's illegible even though it isn't distorted. Also, make the rip at the bottom more jagged with more contrast between the paper and the background, so that it looks like it ripped and not like it just kind of blends into the background.

 

But you are definitely improving.

I would make the BG transparent if I were you, it'll look good on the thread :)

I actually got the stock from google search. (google is faster to type :lol: ) :shock: I'm not that great with text, but if anything would like to give me a few tips, feel free to pm me. :D

 

 

 

For the texture, I just adjusted brightness and contrast, gave it slight burn and use the fire looking thing from the runescape wall paper for that texture like effect. Here's the link if you're curious. I also trimmed it a bit with some grunge brushes and lowered opacity.

For the familiars I set the texture to dry brush and used hard light.
