Grogthurk
Due to the recommendation of a member on here, I'm looking into Barrows sets. 1.) I have 6m I can spend. 2.) Ahrim and Karil need not be discussed, for I am not looking to level Magic or Ranged. 3.) The exception to rule 2 is if part of one of their respective sets is useful. The main issue I have is what full sets or partial sets do I want to use. Guthan's is obviously fairly expensive and popular, so I would need some hard convincing to use that. At my disposal, for gear, I have Abysmal Whip, Rune Defender, Helm of Neit.....(sp), Rune Plate(g) (cringe...), Dragon Platelegs, Obsidian Cape, Obsidian Shield (thing), Dragon Dagger (p++), Rune Boots, Combat Bracelet, Ring of Wealth, Glory. What I am essentially looking for is the best set of Barrows that can exponentially increase my earnings, whether it be a full set or partial. 123_x_pac
Unless you have a bunyip, get guthans. And the only parts of Karils I'd buy are the top and bottom. Same thing for ahrims but include the hood. Grogthurk
With Guthan's, what can be killed that outweigh the cost of repair and can also yield profit?
Grogthurk
I don't think I am being specific. I am going to do Slayer with whatever Barrow's set, unless monsters outside of Slayer give me more cash.
123_x_pac
Guthans is good for some slayer tasks. Others I'd wear what is good for the type of task. Otherwise, I'd wear torags or dharoks. Grogthurk
So I should use full sets or only parts?
123_x_pac
Of course you need full guthans to heal so yeah the full set for that, and just the dharok/torag top and bottom. ShadowSam19
The repair costs on barrows are really insignificant, as it takes ages for them to be in combat for 15hrs, and with the use of a POH armor stand, it doesn't really cost much at all. As for what you should buy, I would say fury, drag boots, and torags plate and legs would be your first purchases, as well as guthans if you have money left over. You may also want karils if you're fighting something that requires mage defence, and ahrims if you you mage alot. The other two sets are pretty unnecessary outside of specific uses. Really, with the exception of guthans, barrows armor is amazingly cheap, and all of it, including guthans, are a great value for the bonuses you get. Grogthurk
I've been searching the forums pretty vigorously and can't find many specific uses for sets. What sets have specific uses?
ShadowSam19
the dharocks set is for power training melee stats and to see high hits, but is way to slow for everyday use the veracs set effect makes it great for pvp and boss hunting, and the individual parts are good for the similar stats to other sets with the addition of a prayer bonus guthans is good for slayer and camping, since you don't need food in most cases the rest aren't really used as a set, but torags is for the high defence bonuses, karils for the mage defence, and ahrims for mage att
Troacctid
If you're planning on using your barrows gear for slayer you should get full Guthan's, and a Verac's Skirt for your legs. And Karil's is good to buy for bloodvelds/jellies/waterfiends/any task where you want magic defence. If it's just for general training, you can get away with just the top and bottom anyway, unless you want Guthan's for camping somewhere, or something. You don't need the helm, because the Helm of Neitiznot is perfectly good. I'm not sure which is cheapest, but all the melee sets except Verac's have the same defence in the chest slot. So get Dharok's, Torag's, or Guthan's platebody, or if you want the prayer bonus you can get Verac's and sacrifice a little defence. And for the legs, Torag and Dharok have the same defence bonuses, so either get whichever of those is cheaper, or use Verac's Skirt, which has 10 less range defence but gives a boost to prayer. Full barrows sets aren't good for training, because the weapons are slow and not as good as the whip. So just use the best pieces as you need them. The only exception is if you want to go Dharoking at low hp. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP

Grogthurk
I'm using full Verac's now because of price primarily. I tried Guthan's, and to be honest I was disappointed. The lack of different attack styles disappointed me.

The lack of different attack styles disappointed me. Like I said, barrows shouldn't be used as a primary training weapon. You should wield a whip, and switch to the spear when you need to heal.
