Yeah, you're not supposed to discuss stuff like that. I don't know about if chipping your console counts though. Usually it means you have a pirated ISO you intend to run on it.

And Hbrew tends to be ilegal until proven otherwise.

The response I got a while ago from BlueLancer is that as long as you aren't actually linking to pirated files or hinting to where they are found a discussion on homebrew or modding a console is just fine.

 

 

 

Of course I'm not sure if some mods would have the same feelings or not, but I know we've discussed PSP and NDS homebrew/modding a lot before.

Nadril pretty much summed it all up. :) Discussion of modding consoles with the intent of putting homebrew on is fine, but linking to rom sites and advocating piracy is not, such replies will be removed and dealt accordingly.

 

 

 

As long as the reason you are discussing custom firmware/ console chipping because you want your console to do more, and not because you want to just play a bunch of games for free, feel free to post. ;)

 

 

 

A Twilight Hack thread would be allowed to stay, as long as you posted some actual uses other than loading roms (useful homebrew apps), and would state the possible dangers, and that what you do may possibly brick your Wii/void your warranty.

I myself am a pirate, so my last post here was a bit hypocritical. I chipped my psx so I could run games I downloaded on it, through an .ISO format. Basically, if you happen to have such files(don't ask, I'm not gonna tell where to get pirated stuff), there is a blue sensor that detects that the psx is closed. By putting something in front of it, like a finger, you can swap an iso disk onto the system and it'll run with no problems. If you decide to pirate though, it's up to you to decide the legality of piracy through any protocol. The only thing I question is abandonware that is impossible to find nowadays. For example, FFVII is almost nowhere, except on eBay. Piracy let's you get the files for such games, but then again, I wouldn't know Square's policy on games that are long abandoned(I define such as being 10 years since it was produced).

TBH .. I think after about a year when new don't sell is when companies stop really giving a damn.
