Virus From A .PDF?

I was on a certain torrent site, and was wondering if I could get a virus from downloading a .pdf file. thanks for the help.

 

 

 

 

 

Oh and this isn't a copyrighted file so i'm not breaking any laws O:)

No. It's vector graphics/images/text (Which is also vector of course)/can also contain 3d objects in a digital document. It can be and is used for ebooks though.

It is very likely that a virus can be packaged in an Acrobat document. You can embed almost anything into a PDF. Although it is speculated that people using Acrobat Reader only and not Writer are immune as the code used to exploit embedded documents is not present in Acrobat reader.

 

 

 

But those hacking type are clever folk, and nothing is 100% immune :(.

It's possible to write malicious code into ANY file.

 

 

 

However that code is only dangerous if you system executes it. Adobe reader wont run any code it isn't built for so you will most likely get just an error message when trying to read the document.

 

 

 

 

 

I have never heard of a virus hiding inside a .PDF it's mainly just applications that you need to watch out for.
