Ok. So its a school term and stuff, so my dads setup our netgear router/firewall to block runescape. :/

 

 

 

Just wondering if theres a way to get past this.. ive tried a few things and nothings worked.

 

 

 

Also, becuase mai parents are tools theyve put internet filtering stuff on my computer.. so most proxy site things are blocked, only one i can get to is vtunnel but it wont load runescape.

 

 

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is going to be the safest way to do it. If you manage to get onto it and they find out, they won't be able to trust you, and they will take more precautions to stop you going on the computer. Try and reason with them so that you can at least play on Weekends, and Fridays. I reasoned with my parents that way, and it worked. I stuck to my promise, they stuck to there.

Yep...that's about all you can do at this point. Sure, there are ways to circumvent the netgear firewall, provided that it's not directly hooked up to the Internet, but why should you incur your parent's wrath over some game?

*sigh* yea i guess your right, i am allowed to play on weekends, but it still annoys me, just invested alot of money into merchaing in the g.e ect and its all going to go to waste =/

Seriously, it will be a lot better for you if you just get a deal. Agree to mow the yard or keep your room clean, or maybe clean the gutters or something stupid and trivial.

 

 

 

My parents did this to me awhile ago, but it was because my grades were starting to slip a bit. I just agreed to get my homework assignments written down and shown to them and then I'd get to play. Just don't let them install Net Nanny or any other spyware program (yes it's spyware, it collects personal information and sends it to the person who installed it, without your consent). It's a pain to get off, and when you do, they'll know when logs stop showing up, and they'll have seen anything you've done...Although there are ways to get them to bend to your will, but I'm not going there.

:P my dads actually a total nerd.. so i doubt hed ever call in a techy to try and stop me playing a game.. and yea, a little late to stop the net nanny and such, currently "OPTENET" is installed on my laptop (which i payed like a thousand of my own money for, yet still cant use freely) had numerous other programs like netnanny and such as well, which ive gotten past quite easily =]

 

 

 

Meh, if i can load a runescape world and just let my laptop hibernate, i can still play, just not change worlds/see main page or anything like that.

Really, the best way to do it is to talk to your parents. If they don't want you to play, live with it.

Start off with the basic method - if possible, you could simply bypass the router by plugging the line from your modem directly into your computer. That failing, you could try and guess your router password and unblock it, or reset your router and set your own password. Either of those might make your parents suspicious, so you could change the IP of your router from the default (probably 192.168.0.1) to something like 192.168.0.5, and give your laptop a static IP of whatever the router IP used to be. Then set up a personal web page on your computer, and use it to replicatie your router's configuration screens. Obviously this would be quite challenging and take some time, but hey, without Runescape you've got plenty of that, right? Then again, if your parents ever want to change some settings on your router, they're bound to figure it out. Then you can consider any trust bonds broken, and you'll probably never allowed to go near a family computer again.

 

 

 

You could also go with the sneaky method - get your own wireless router and hook it up between the cable modem and other wireless router, then turn off SSID broadcasting and connect to it from your laptop. Easy to find, though, if your router is in a commonly accessed place.

 

 

 

Setting up a proxy at a friends house is another option, but I'm not sure how RS works through a proxy - I've never tried it, but I would assume that Java would complicate it a bit.

It's a good idea, but apparently Tip.It isn't doing that, or this thread would have been locked long ago. At least if we made it a sticky we could eliminate a lot of these threads...

Sorry but due to possible legal issues, we cannot allow threads that tell you how to bypass filters/firewalls/parental controls/etc. set by your parents, school and library networks, etc.
