palading
Well it has come to attention that my accounts on runescape have been hacked, i hadn't logged on for a few days and i logged on thismorning to help a mate out , so i logged in and i was in draynor and i thought thats strange i thought i logged out in varrok, anyway i lost about 400k and 15k bronze arrows and 10 k iron arrows, not much i no but still, most of my better stuff is stored on another account luckily...... Any getting to the question i was wondering if there was anything i can do apart from running a virus check, that would make me safer and/ or the ability to find anything about what happened.... i am still not sure what i downloaded or recieved to get this virus and im usualy quite cautious ???? anyway anything inparticualr i should do ... Ryan
Just run Ad-aware with all the latest updates and Spybot S&D. Then maybe do a Hijackthis log and post it here. Of course, change pass and recovery questions and dont' login until you've done all this. Also, delete and 3rd party software you have installed like a client or anything. devilheart14
try scanning with everything, use firefox, be more concious what you download e.g. key loggers change ure password AFTER you scan ure comp. Can't strees that enough make shore your system is clean before you change it otherwise ppl are just gonna go back in Aussie Aussie Aussie, :D
Karvinen
Run Hijackthis and post the log before using programs like Ad-Aware. They usually destroy the information (registry keys) that would be listed in HJT log but doesn't delete the actual keylogger.
axewielder13
i heard that this forum can keylog people.... so if u have ur real rsn as ur forum name and pass the same as ur rsn pass, ull b keylogged

Some of the advertisements in the past have been known to cause problems, but tif is not out to keylog you and the people who put up the advertisements dont' give a [cabbage] about your rs account. Please don't cause any problems when there doesn't need to be. Please ignore "axewielder13"'s post.

SAGE
Yah, wouldn't bother changing the pass until after you run HJT then ad aware.

I listed the pass changing stuff after I said to scan. Figured he'd go through the list..
LinovUSA
when i had norton antivirus 2005, it caused me most of my computer problems so i got rid of it and my comp is fast, i have no problems what so ever *good thing i dont*, i have some better softs that keep stuff out, as if the antivirus doesnt really keep stuff out of ur comp, i do have antivirus program but it is not like norton and doesnt cause me problems or slow downs unless im using it, which happens when i notice strange, weird things going on, when i do i turn like 5 scanners on at same time and go play b-ball, also get a firewall, very useful, keeps most people out
Lorddragonxx
Everyone basically covered what to do, and if you need a great antivirus program, the one I use is Panda Titanium: http://www.pandasoftware.com , goodluck.

Vinnie14
once youve scanned ur pc and chaged ur pass etc, y dont you use and on screen keyboard in the future just to have that extra safety? RSN: Civic_TypeR :)
Eric2203
once youve scanned ur pc and chaged ur pass etc, y dont you use and on screen keyboard in the future just to have that extra safety? Because on-screen keyboards do NOT offer any extra safety. All they do is mimic keyboards and keyloggers sees them just like regular physical keyboards. Vinnie14
o rite, i got told that keyloggers cant see them, suppose i shouldnt bother using it then  RSN: Civic_TypeR :)
Karvinen
once youve scanned ur pc and chaged ur pass etc, y dont you use and on screen keyboard in the future just to have that extra safety?I guess you don't know how keyloggers and the onscreen keyboard work. Keyloggers capture the keystroke event, not physical keystrokes. Onscreen keyboard send a keystroke event, just like your regular keyboard. Anybody who says that OSK makes you safe from keyloggers is a n00b or liar.
den160593
Well you should download Microsoft Antispyware Beta1 from http://www.microsoft.com that should get rid of the spyware then use Norton AntiVirus System Scan as the other people have been telling you. This should remove your computer of all major threats and after that just stay on the safe side. Don't click any links that you don't know where they go (I know this is hard just try) and well run regular scans. You should be alright!
