I love how NZ cricket always seems to silence the haters. We get smoked by Bangladesh, and everyone is like "India will thrash us", and we draw the first game. "Chris Martin is so [cabbage] and over the hill". Then gets a five for. Tim McIntosh gets a pair " He is so [cabbage], drop him! Then he gets a hundred.

Harbhajan sure can hit the ball. He struggled against Aus but it's nice to see him get two hundreds in two games, I've liked him since he slapped Sreesanth :)

 

Also, this is the first time in a very long time I can remember New Zealand having a 100+ run opening partnership!

 

In other matches, Chris Gayle is smashing Sri Lanka around the park in the West Indies v Sri Lanka test match and South Africa are trashing Pakistan.

First one in six years Jimmy. Since Fleming and Richardson in England 2004. McCullum scored a great hundred, and we're in a good position to save the game. Although it's similar the second day where we collapsed, hopefully doesn't happen again...

Interesting day of cricket today. New Zealand who were looking like they were going to lose the test match at one point held on for a draw, all to be decided in the third test. Great innings by McCullum for his 225.

 

Chris Gayle smashed 333 off Sri Lankans bowling attack, one short of Don Bradmans highest. Hopefully West Indies win this test match, they were the big underdogs coming into it.

 

And Pakistan held onto a draw against South Africa.

VERY surprised that Hauritz was dropped for Doherty, Hauritz has a great average in Australia, and got two five wicket hauls last summer including one in Brisbane. Xavier Doherty currently has a FC bowling average of 48.26 which is one of the worst in Domestic cricket, only behind Steven Smith...Though Doherty has been in form lately.

 

Another surprise is Peter Siddle and Steven Smith being chosen over Ryan Harris and Steve O'keefe. Steve O'keefe is a spinning all rounder with a bowling average of 22 and a batting of 51, miles over Steven Smith. And Ryan Harris got 9 wickets in the same game which Peter Siddle played where Siddle got 2..?

The real NZ have resurfaced? And yeah some of those selections are a bit surprising, especially Doherty. England are paying pretty well to win, like 3.50 or something. They looked really good against Aussie A, and I think a cheeky ten on England could be in order.

It was always going to be easy to bat on the last two days of the test match, it's the first 1-3 which would be harder. Kinda disappointing to see England playing for a draw, but after Australia dominated in the first innings I guess they had no option.

 

Still Australia bowled and fielded pretty awfully. Johnson has to go...Harris and Bollinger want their test spots back and have been playing great at domestic level since their returns. North needs to go as well, get White in, he can bowl leg breaks as well as bat.

 

Nice hundreds by Strauss and Trott, and double by Cook, but any bowling team that lets Cook get to 200 runs scoring at more than half a run per ball must be bowling badly. Johnson and Watson especially.

 

Good for Australia having Siddle and Hussey in form, though Siddle hurt his shoulder a bit Also good that Swann and Broad didn't bowl well :P Bring on the second test!
