Manage thy kingdom formula wrong?

That's what I collected after a few weeks..

But the specials were a bit strange:

according to tipit you get 1 "special" every 150 coal:

13051/150=87 specials from coal

and 1 special every 50 tuna:

21041/50 = 420

So this should've granted me 507 specials. Yet I only see:

160+86+42+14+135+11+7+15+1+4 = 475 specials: this means 32 specials are "gone"! - Vanished!

I think the tuna is about right (well "54 makes the result correct: but I don't think jagex would put that as real number").

So the mistake should be in the coal part?

Coal should be 1 special in 240 coal to make the result "correct".

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

I'd guess that either you didn't keep approval at 100% at all times, or that the 150 is just an estimation and not an exact amount.

Of course I didn't put approval at 100% the whole time: but the 1/150 shouldn't "change" should it? (if it did that would be a complete new branch to the mtk formulas btw):

if my approval drops I do get indeed less specials: but I get also less normal stuff.. (and the 1/50 & 1/150 should "stay")..

Also for your reference: the flax, rare woods and woods are all very, very correct! only 1 of these is "off"..

What might be happening is that I get a lot of "clues": which account for those 27 lost things.. Though that means mtk is a very good source for clues: 1 out of 12.7 specials on average yields a clue!

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

The only thing wrong with that theory is that clues only come from fishing resources, while gems are coal specific.

Maybe the game does some kind of 50/50 thing when rounding. If for example you invest for 1 day at 100% approval in 100% Coal, you would get 545 Coal and "supposedly" 3 gems. 545 divided by 150 falls between 3 and 4, so maybe sometimes you get 3 gems, while other times you get 4. Not entirely sure, but just throwing a theory out there.

Well, we can't change the formula based on one result, anyway. All I can do is ask people to start posting their results here so that we can take a survey to see what we are getting. :(

Am doing 10 fish/5 mapples now: so in about 1-2 weeks I might see if the mistake is in the fishing (or mining) part.

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

My results:

dataoc5.png

2962 Coal / 150 Coal = 19.75 Gems

Yet I only get 15

Correct formula would then be 2962 Coal / 15 Gems = 197.467 Coal per 1 gem, rounded would be 200 Coal.

So if I had 2962 / 200 Coal, then its 14.81, rounded to 15 gems.

When gathering the items, the "bonuses" are calculated based on the final amount gathered. So even if rating was not kept or different amounts of supplies were collected each day, the "bonus" items would be calculated based upon amounts at the time of collection. So at 1 gem per 150 coal, even 449 coal would result in only 2 gems at collection (according to current calculations). Hopefully I'm not repeating something that's already been said. If so, hopefully the screen I attach can be of some possible use.

4,534 tuna with 83 specials.

18,365 maples with 183 nests (correct).

---------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, from the pictures Pokemama posted and a few others that I looked at, it seems coal is 1 gem per 200 coal and tuna I'm not so sure about.

[hide=]kingdom20081207.png[/hide]

3,236 coal / 16 gems = 200 coal per gem

[hide=]kingdom_20080221_.jpg[/hide]

3,926 tuna / 76 specials = 52 tuna per special. And my previous post showed 55 tuna per post, so I'm not sure about tuna and the specials, but coal seems to definitely be 200 coal per gem.

Anyways, it's late and hopefully this makes some sense.

I believe its not the formula that's at fault merely a slight miscalculation.

It looks to me like gloves and boots count as 2 extra items each, similar to egg nests reducing the total number of nests.

The specials also roll some of the time with 10 on flax I will get 2 seeds the other times 3. As the number of flax per day is 1250 which gives 2.1 specials.

Maybe every time the game wants to put a clue in your 'collection box', but finds out you already have one in there, it just doesn't give you any special.

My theory ;x

Well, from the five collections that have coal and NOT fish, it does consistently show a return of approximately 1 in 200 rather than what is on the site. Possible this was a covert nerf, hard to tell.

It seems that when coal and tuna are combined, the result can get skewed. The collections that showed fish only reflected a 1 in 50-53 return, so that's close enough imho.

With the oscillation in the tuna return, the two changes would account for the "missing" specials in the original post.

I have made this change. Thanks to everyone who posted their own data pictures (you've been credited), we depend on users like you to nail down tricky things like this!!
