Something is seriously wrong with my mute.

Ok, let me start at the beginning. This July I was put in the green zone due to a cheesy "your mom"-joke. According to runescape.wikia, green zone mutes are supposed to last for ONE day. The mute is STILL affecting my characters. I have absolutely no other offenses on my account, not before, not after, and none of those "dots" or whatever.

 

 

 

Also, my mute is kinda special. I have a friend who was put in the red zone and permanently banned, and his mute differs from mine. He can still read all comments on Runescape, receive private message, and use quickchat to communicate back. My account is ONLY able to read quickchat comments, both public and private, every other comment is filtered away. In addition to this, upon entering a message in the chat my friend gets the message "your account is muted". When I try to type ANYTHING, not even the letters appear on my screen(while typing).

 

 

 

So, why do I post this HERE instead of on the official Runescape forums, or better yet, contact customer support? Well, green zone mutes CANNOT be appealed, so I don't have that option. I am also blocked from writing in the official Runescape forums, so that's not a possibility either.

 

 

 

Could somebody please assist me with this? I thought time would "heal" my account, but nothing has changed since July. ALL FEEDBACK IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! :pray:

Well, you could either be muted or could have registered your account into the under 13 category which means that you can only see or hear Quick Chat. Could you give us a screenshot of what happens in-game?

When you registered you choose an age group if you put under 13 no matter how many years ago you will only see quickchat messages. But since you say it's a mute please post a picture of your Account information page with the offence and the message you get ingame when you try to pm or chat in public. If you are muted it will say so in the offence page.

I don't believe that's the problem, the quickchat should have been triggered much sooner if that's the case. I find it hard to believe that it would kick in at EXACTLY the same as the mute.

 

 

 

And I get no message in-game, I am simply blocked from typing anything at all. For instance, if I press the "a" button no "a" appears on screen, get it?

But there is NO SUCK THING as Account Recovery: Appeal an Offence/Ban. The account recovery only helps for missing passwords, and the appeal thing doesn't work since I'm only in the green zone... I completely stumped on this! :wall:

Maybe Jagex will see the error of their ways and change it back in a while? ...or not

 

 

 

Though you being put in the under 13 category would be logical this could be a bug somehow. If you can - try reporting this as a bug, so not only will it help them, but it may bring more attention to your account to see whats wrong.

Yes someone seriously screwed up at the office. If you're in the green zone there is no reason you should be muted this thoroughly, the only legitimate way this could have happened is if you registered as a 13 year old or younger. But it's probably a mistake, as you said you registered 5 years ago and it didn't happen then, so it shouldn't be happening now. I suggest you go into the account recovery system and choose to recover your account (as if it had been hacked) by entering the specific details they ask for. It will draw some attention to the probelm becuase someone has to physically review your account recovery request, it's not automated. If that doesn't work, you're stuck waiting until the account review thread opens back up.

After waiting three weeks, I still haven't got any reply on my bug report. I also tried using the recover account function, but Jagex obviously did not read my comment, and simply changed my password...

 

 

 

This game has the WORST customer service ever! Makes me wonder why I still want to play this... :wall:

Funny how everyone kept suggesting other things when its clearly a mistake on Jagex's part.

 

 

 

I advise sending a bug report every week until your account is resolved, you can't exactly abuse the bug report system if they don't read the actual post and act upon it. So, report the bug, give them a week to read it and act on it, otherwise, keep sending in reports. There's no other option i see.
