runesmithie
I've been noticing my comp has been chugging around a little lately and was wondering if there were any little tweaks or speedups that I might have missed :S I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. ____
hjt, ad aware, spybot. if they're all good -> run less processes / do less stuff at the same time or you could just OC everything or get new hardware :run:
Pyro
Check for and remove spyware/malware. Remove pointless proccesses/services that Windows runs. If you're running an AMD64, use a memory divider and increase your FSB. Read up on this before trying though. Remove programs from startup that you do not use. Defragment, it makes a ton of difference.

Most people defragment once or twice per year at most, if at all. If you add up the total extra time needed for various tasks due to this all over the world and calculate the power useage for that time extra time which the computers will need to be on I bet we could close a nuclear power plant :P Okay, maybe not. Still, the effect fragmentation has on transfer and search rates is enormous and that can't be said too many times.
zonda
you oculd always try some of blackvipers windows 2000 and XP tweaks. http://www.blackviper.com Also disable anything on startup that is unneeded, I.E. MSN, AIM, all the junk that hogs RAM when you start up, making it take alto longer ...

den160593
Well as the other people said defragmenting and adding memory are the best ways to speed up your comp. Although you could also delete your old and I mean old work.
Mercifull
Did anyone mention any of the Windows XP Power Toys? http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... rtoys.mspx You might be able to use a few of them to tweak windows a tad for a bit more speed.
