November 5, 200817 yr (There is alot more than this I will finish later) Def poetry (slam poetry) was first shown to me by my English teacher and I have liked it ever since. I am going to post some of the poetry for you to rate, post comments, or just watch. There have even been some famous people on the show. First some history on Def Poetry... "Def Poetry, also known as Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry or Def Poetry Jam, which was Co-Founded by Bruce George, Danny Simmons and Deborah Pointer is an HBO television series produced by hip-hop music entrepreneur Russell Simmons. The series presents performances of slam poetry by established spoken word poets, as well as up-and-coming ones. November 6, 200817 yr Author Ignore him it just adds to spam. I just wanted to say I did this mostly for Extra Credit. If I "Spread the word" I got the credit so I took pic and gave to teach. I do like some of the slam poetry though and I wanted to see what other people think about it.
November 7, 200817 yr When I saw the title I had the vision of to works of poetry wrestling each other. Then again, I've never enjoyed poetry, even in the sort. Too bad my firefox doesn't have a working youtube >:(

November 7, 200817 yr That Saul williams one really touched me. Then I listened to Children of the Night, and I was like, OMG! It's an amazing poem, really touched me. I normally hate poetry, and if a man can reach me, in that way, through a poem, then he has done a great thing. He is an amzing guy. I don't like his songs though, only his poems. So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.
