Cha0sx
I have seen many arguments for and against what I deem overpriced weapons and armour. This is written from the point of view of mostly a skiller, although I do train Slayer (not a pure skiller, of course), and sometimes do things like castle wars. However, I believe that there are many overpriced weapons and armour that have been released in RuneScape recently which just aren't worth the price regardless of your funds in my opinion. This is because, if you are a skiller, it can be invested in better means. I believe that these items aren't truly more useful than the cash they cost, or the return they make. I find that many people are making arguments that x armour/weapon made them x amount of money. I really don't think this is true and that they are ignoring many other factors. What I consider to be overpriced armour/weapons is Bandos, Armadyl, Godswords, Dragonfire Shield, Saradomin Sword, and most recently, the Spirit Shields. 3rd age is too obviously a "purely for looks" armour in comparison to the price. I really think that in RuneScape this overpriced gear just does not make up for it's price except in very specific circumstances. This includes getting drops at GWD, and then saying it's all due to x item. I doubt Bandos Armour helps at GWD at all, since the defense Barrows gives in this situation is so much more useful. I believe that certain Godswords can help at GWD, but really, is it just due to it that you get the drops? Maybe it's due to the fact that you use a unicorn, managed your food more wisely, or some other reason. For slayer, Bandos might give that slight str bonus, but is it really worth it over, say, Torags and a Bunyip or full Guthans? The 'welfare' gear is more than enough unless you just want to buy this armour for fun, looks, uniqueness, or simply having the best regardless of how much of a rip off it is. The main thing I want to discuss here, is whether you, personally, think these overpriced items are worth it. Though some seem to be more worth it than others, and it also depends on how you play the game. If you boss hunt a lot I could say that the Dragonfire shield could be worth it along with maybe a Godsword, but does this pay back the price of the item? I understand you can sell it again, but then again the prices are also unstable. EDIT: I have made a couple changes, so if you were one of the first couple to read it, skim through it again. Owned_Nex
"Overpriced" is purely point of view. Dungeoneering isn't a skill. I'm faster than bots at Sorceress Garden. bogwaga
Some things that I think are overprices are zammy pages. I got em when they were like 250k ea max, and now I see them being sold for tons. They really don't make that much of a difference, and a damaged book does still have some stats. And maybe some of the PvP armor, but i'm not sure if the G.E. prices are accurate. If they are, I don't think 1 hour of wearing them is worth the price. Notable Drops: 5 X Dragon Axe.......1 X D Skirt...............1 X Bandos Platebody 3 X Zerker Ring.......1 X Bandos Hilt4 X Warrior Ring......1 X Bandos Tassets
lebst
I've owned every one of those things you mentioned at one point or another, besides spirit shields. And the only two that weren't overrated/overpriced were godswords (I've owned bandos and zamorak) and the saradomin sword. Godswords are quite useful in pvp and bosses. Saradomin sword is the best strength trainer out there (maybe besides dharoks but with slayer you can't use dh helm with the slayer helm).
mister_moocky
I bought an amult of fury for 3m, a berserker ring for 2.5m, an archer ring for 1.4m, and a regen bracelet for 1.2m. These items provide very few bonuses compaired to their cheaper counterparts, but I could eiuther 1) Have the money sit on my bank or 2) Spend it on something I would use. Whats the point of having money? Currently I am debating between unholy book page set, bandos tassets, or 90 mage. I'm leaning towards magic because I think a balance between skills and items is important; much more so than a cash pile. quit
depresins
It's just like that in the real world. Ask yourself, how much are you willing to pay for the extra performance, no matter how small. For some people, it's entirely worth it. It depends how much money YOU have.
