Training smithing from 54 till 69 and crafting 61 to 66

Featured Replies

Hello there people!

I was trying to figure out a way to get 69 Smithing and 66 crafting.

I'm slowly working my way towards a questcape (I'm a zerker pure and I don't want to do def, prayer and attack quests :P)

But I just want to complete all the quests I'm able to, aswell as the achievement diaries (all of 'em)

My biggest 2 struggles are smithing and crafting.

I've been checking prices, but I can't seem to find a good method to train those two skills without losing an absurd amount of gold :P

I've checked gold ore smelthing, bracelet making, bolt smithing and other well-known methods. These methods all result in a big loss of money; not quite what I'm looking for :P

So I figured you guys might give me some input :D

Blast furnace your bars, and you'll lose little off of mith bolts. Do cballs, most smelting is profit or very little loss, or mine your own ores.

For craft, collect your own hides, buy untanned and tan them, sell half to cover your losses for the other half you craft, look into if you can glassblow orbs or something and enchant them to recoup losses (not sure of the level req).

Of course all of these are pretty slow, and you'd probably do better using the well known methods and just making the money back, but there's some options that spring to mind.

Smithing cannonballs is extremely slow but you make profit from it.

Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.

Mine gold, smelt with gauntlets.

Buy cut emeralds, make bracelets, alch for small profit. :P ( You'll have to check the math on this one )

Anyway, I got quite a few of my levels this way.

Smithing: Use Blast Furance with Mith ores, then smith mith bolts.

Crafting: do the Shades of Mort'ton or flaxing for profit.

I would use the profit I made to buy more expensive crafting methods--gem cutting and then green drgonhide crafting at lvl 63

I'm not sure about the smithing yet, but I'll collect at least a part of my own hides.

I'm currently working on 65 fishing (64 atm) but after that it's time to get 69 smithing (devious midns)

54-60 smith can be done superheating mith bars for little loss i personally achieved it in f2p gained 300k about 1 1/2 weeks ago :P 66-70 mage plox :P

1100 total achieved 03/02/09 880thousandth to reach it :P

1200 total achieved 29/09/11 1.23millionth to reach it :P

not very sure about smithing.. all i know is its very slow if u dont wanna lose money.

flax is actually pretty fast for crafting, and you can use them for fletching later too. good money imo. =) it'll b easier if you use mtk to get flax, then spin them all at once.

Yeah...well; it's 11k flax till 66 crafting, so that isn't really an option :P It's only 3k till 63; after that, I'm gonna slay my own drags for the hides and make green dragonhide bodies (and alch them) till 66...Hmmm...that's 2000 hides...I think I might be able to kill 2k drags :P

I haven't figured out what to smith though <_<

I smelt and smith my own iron bars using rings of forging. Buy the ore off the GE, smelt them, and then smith them into iron knives.

Use a Morphic tool for maximum efficiency as it gives a nice 15.5 xp bonus per bar you smith bringing your total of xp to 40.5 for smithing or 53xp per bar if you smith and smelt. You will also make a profit off doing this depending on how much iron ore will continue to rise. (Currently it's gone from like 96ea to 115ea in the past week or so.)

Hope this helps. (Oh and I would not recommend cannonballs as they are tediously slow. Only do these if you really need to make money and have no other skill you can make it in)
