November 23, 200817 yr Hi, I'm stuck on ideas for my final piece for my art GCSE. The topic which I'm focussing on is people and places. I'm like more abstract and traditional (Roman/religious style buildings). I prefer to draw places then people. So far the only idea I've had so far is that off a breakfast bar with postcards of places falling downwards onto the bar. And I would prefer to have more then one option so any ideas or help would be useful. If you have any ideas on how to develop my idea above then that would help as well. Thanks. EDIT: It's not the 10 hour exam, its the end of project work which i mean, which requires a brain-storm/mind-map for that picture. Ex-Members

November 24, 200817 yr gcse art 10 hour exam i'm guessing with creativity you just have to find something that hits you with that spark i remember that exam i hated it lol
November 24, 200817 yr Author pyromancer - i will probably use paint (arcllyic, but more likely goucahe paint) dragoonson - (if my printer worked i upload the art work) anyway for critical studies i studied leonardo da vinci and micheneglo (st peters bascillia). for other research im drawing -angel of the north (in 4 different medias) -landmarks of the world in paint and pencil. and a few other pieces which im to do Ex-Members
November 29, 200817 yr For mine I just turned up with a sketchbook and charcoal and spent the time experimenting, having fun drawing objects around the class with interesting lighting introduced. Had enough time to do some painting too, think I painted a dragon at some point with some existing animals as reference. My advice would be to not to spend all your time thinking of 'perfect idea', leave your piece room to evolve, preparation-wise make a collection of things of interest maybe, textures, styles, whatever will make you more comfortable when it comes to painting. When it comes to paint; think of what you want your piece to say, colour reflects mood so good use of this could go well towards your marks. More than anything, just have fun with it, I remember seeing people at my exam so prepared with exactly what they wanted that when it came to it they just became so precious with their work and restricted, they looked like they were at work rather than something they liked to do. It's hard to put down exactly what you picture in your head, so leave your ideas room to become something more.
December 13, 200817 yr Author Bump, To above: its not the 10 hour exam, but its a project which has quite a lot of pieces of work, which i need to create via a 'brain-storm'/'mind-map'. I need to draw/paint/oil at least 6 different versions of that design, but its the idea i'm stuck on as i can't think of any. Ex-Members
December 13, 200817 yr I would reccomend something to with fantasy, using charcoal as the main medium; like a knight, adding reflections on the armour with an eraser or something. GL 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
December 13, 200817 yr Doesn't it have to be stylised?I did something like the knight,I had two guys fighting, one lay on the ground. The guy standing shatters his shield with a mace, shards fly. That is now my effect. With the shards I can fill out certain areas that in the drawing were previously "too blank". So thats the sort of thing you think about.Your idea, how it can be stylised, maybe your angel of the north has some sort of glow,(I dunno, but maybe you need color scheme,in which case angel of the north would be a cool color),and in the event you're as lazy as me and don't want to draw a great background, think of how to fill the empty space. Idea, Stylisation, Colors, Empty spaces. In school we were thought something like; Idea, Research (1st hand observation, via pictures,so 2nd hand, really), Stylisation, Positioning (Layout), Color Scheme, a dry run, whereby you draw what you want the final product to look like, then the actual thing. so i herd u liek devarts? If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".[hide=This's why I'm hot]The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".Amen, brother :lol:Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)amen Bruder!
