Weapon speeds and strengths

Featured Replies

I have recently been doing a little research into the best weapon types. I used my pure defence account to measure the amount of time it took for each f2p weapon type to hit 10 times, and then used the weapons stats for rune to find out which weapon was the best in terms it's attack stats per second and strength stat per second. I have also shown the best for crush, slash and stab types. I am not sure where this should go, so I thought as it's sort of a guide for what weapon to use, it could go here.

Thanks for the info!

Warhammers seem to be the best against plate armour for accuracy, however battleaxes are better with their crush attack overall. I also think that the battleaxe crush attack is better than scimitar slash for use against plate armour, however scimitar far exceeds it agsinst dragonhide. Warhammer appears to be reasonably similar, maybe a little worse, than scimitar against plate armour.

EDIT: Done some tests. Battleaxe seems worse than scimitar or warhammer against plate armour using it's crush attack.

Well, you can try testing with a stopwatch, but I am 99.9& sure my recordings are correct.

Also, about your "Support the longsword", I believe I have proven scimitar is better than it hands down, and even normal sword is better than it at stabbing.

The validity of this information isn't really accurate. There are two main problems with this:

1) Notice how Scimitar is the best all around. You really don't need anything else for F2P, besides the 2H for it's killing potential.

2) Your whole formula is WRONG, sorry. I don't think anybody knows the formula besides Jagex. You added the Slash/Crush/Stab with the Strength of each weapon to get the DPS. This is WRONG.

As mentioned before, you can't just add up the stats for damage, and most importantly: Scimitar takes all, period, for FTP. For members it's D scimmy -> Sara Sword -> Whip, with godsword\veracs (questionably) first for PVP.

Drops: 1x Draconic Visage, 56x Abyssal Whip, 5x Demon Head, D Drops: 37, Barrows Drops: 43, DK Drops: 29

GWD drops: 14,000x Bars, 1x Armadyl Hilt, 2x Armadyl Skirt, 4x Sara Sword, 1x Saradomin Hilt, 8x Bandos Hilt, 8x Bandos Platebody, 9x Bandos Tassets, 4x Bandos Boots, 43x Godsword Shard, 82x Dragon Boots

Dry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks

My formulas are as correct as possible according to the infomation I have. I believe the slash/stab/crush is accuracy, and strength is strength. I admit my "overall" section does no clearly show best weapons, it is just to give an overall idea as to how good certain weapons are for accuracy&max hit. I believe my slash/stab/crush and strength per second formulas are correct.

The Str/stab per second is obviously right, but there is no useful information to come out of that if there is no formula to convert it. This would be as useful as simply looking at the stats and speed of the weapon. (Which is exactly what this is)

Either way, your formula is most likely very far from right. Instead of an overall, you should do an overall xp/hour gain from different monsters (levels) at different combat levels (stats). Yes, extensive testing will be required... Although Scimitar has been proven to be the best. Let's say a Omega duplex poleaxe has 70 slash per second and 0 str per second. Would that make it stronger than the Scimitar?

I'm not trying to bash you or your guide, by the way. I hope this is considered as me giving C/C. :XD:

Seems like a good idea to do xp/hour info. Maybe if anyone was willing to submit info about this that would be very helpful.

The times are wrong. I'm guessing that when timing the speeds, you started the timer when you made the first hit and stopped it when you made the tenth hit. That is timing nine hits, not ten. The correct times are approximately 2.42, 3.03, 3.64, and 4.24 seconds.

These are all multiples of 0.6 seconds, so it seems to be right.

They're not multipliers of .6 seconds.

Around that. From what I've heard, that's one 'game tick'. Some things take more ticks than others, like cooking a fish (I timed 2.32, 2.36 and 2.41) takes longer than making an unf potion (I timed 0.55, 0.57 and 0.59) or smithing bolts (I timed 2.98, 3.03 and 3.04).

I don't think that's coincidence.

umm no offence but isnt this whole thing pretty obvious.....everyone knows short is best for stab, warhammer is best for crush and scimmy best for slash.....DUH ITS THEIR MAIN ATTACK STYLE. a battleaxe or a longsword is for certain situations....a long has a mix between a short and a scimmy and a baxe has a mix between a hammer and scimmy....their not meant to overshine both of them but is for more convenience.

A few things I want to point out.

1. The rune scimitar is proven to be the best weapon in F2P, followed by the rune longsword. You really don't need to use weapons other than these two, except probably the rune two-hander for PVP KOs.

2. The rune longsword is also the best at stabbing. Your "claim" that the rune shortsword is better at stabbing is not feasible - the rune longsword has EXACTLY the same stab bonus, plus it is stronger and therefore able to make hits better than the rune shortsword. No offense but I think you have something against the rune longsword.

3. The image doesn't show up for some reason. Can you type the statistics up instead, so you don't have to worry about the images not showing up?
