IMPORTANT: Security Update for Microsoft Java

Featured Replies

For those of you who use the Microsoft Java VM to run RuneScape, run Windows Update ASAP. There's a critical update out today (critical is how Microsoft has ranked this update). More info can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/securi ... 5-037.mspx

It shows up through Windows Update, so that's all you have to do. If you use the Sun Java VM, hey... might as well check if it's been updated. ;) If you don't know what you're using, then run Windows Update anyway. It can't hurt.

There's another critical update out today too, though nothing to do with Java.

NOTE: The JView profiler referred to in that link comes installed with the MS Java VM, as explained if you read the whole thing.

I have a windows xp.

It automatically updates itself when you shut it down, earlier

it had an update, so that was more than likely it.

Yes, depending on your Automatic Updates settings in Windows XP Service Pack 2, it will update itself when you shut it down.

*Firefox users* To be on the safe side, update your Java plugin view mozilla.com. Microsoft dosen't update FF plugins yet. The software is updated, the plugins to FF aren't. Now chances is this will be of no consequence but you always wanna play it safe when your playing with an expensive peice of machinery.

You should all be using SUN Java instead of MSJava anyway.
