December 19, 200817 yr Ok, so I had a take home final exam this week due Thursday at 9:00 am. Instructions were to turn it into the professor's receptionist. I worked on the exam Wednesday afternoon and finished it around 5:30 pm or so and went to turn it in because I couldn't turn it in Thursday morning before the deadline because of an exam that I had from 8-10 and the receptionists usually don't get to campus until 8, sometimes 9. The receptionist had already left for the day, so I put the exam in my professor's mailbox. Today, I received an email from the professor saying my exam was not scored because I didn't turn it in to the receptionist like instructed. I sent an email back to the professor explaining why I turned it in to the mailbox instead of just waiting and I am yet to get a reply back because I sent it not too long ago. Am I right to be upset about this? Just to note, the exam was optional and replaced the lowest score on the previous exams if you did better, but this could increase my grade by quite a bit. --8727th person to achieve 99 Fishing on 8/19/2008----6012th person to achieve 99 Thieving on 10/12/2008--R.I.P. December 19, 200817 yr My suggestion is, no not yet. Wait til you get the reply then decide whether or not to get upset, he may after all see that your explanation is reasonable and mark it, heres hoping.
December 19, 200817 yr I would have done the same thing, because he might have not graded it late. I'd say you do, if he doesn't grade it.

December 19, 200817 yr Just wait it out, maybe he'd be smart and understand what happened and apologize for the misunderstanding, if he doesn't and still refuses to grade it, yeah, you've got a right to be upset. Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
December 19, 200817 yr Most professors are actually understanding and decent people. I've only rarely encountered the egomaniacal type actually. If he doesn't grade the test however, you can always take it above his head. Good luck! : I love to meet people; send me a pm if you see me on RuneScape! :)
December 21, 200817 yr You're right to be upset, nobody can tell you how to feel but It's my personal opinion to believe you did the wrong thing. If you knew you had an exam the next morning and couldn't hand it in, this isn't your professors problem. That problem belongs to you. So by over coming your problem you should have then figured out closing times of the reception and made sure to hand it in before home time. This is called planning ahead. If you did not do this, then it is your problem that the rest was not delivered to your professor on time and your problem that you didn't get marked. If you did hand it in on time before the hours of reception closing and she went home early then this should be brought up with your professor and dealt with appropriately. In this one circumstance, it would be the receptionists fault. However, you could have also avoided this by making sure you were at the reception with PLENTY of time remaining. In future this will avoid further disappointment. If you're lucky your professor might be generous. If he's not, learn the lesson of planning ahead. As I already mentioned, you have every right to feel upset but who should those feelings really be directed at? The professor, the receptionist, or YOU? Since the test was OPTIONAL, I hope he has a little Christmas spirit. Be thankful this wasn't worth 20% of your final grade! The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.
December 21, 200817 yr Goddess?? You're BACK? Might as well contribute to the thread. Now, as Goddess said you should have made sure you came within the office's hours. Maybe another kid could have come and taken your test later if they wanted a scond opinion on their answers. Maybe an intern screws something up and it never gets delivered. I do think you're professor should have been a little bit clearer over what to do if the receptionist wasn't there. If he had flat out said "Do not place it in my mailbox, I will not check it" then your act would have been stupid and a waste of a grade. Just hope for the best that the professor can see the little misunderstanding and give you your grade back. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. I own. http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.
