Well, after a year of being a melee pure, i have sold my armour and switched over to mage. Ive been training at FOG, and I've gotten to lv 37 mage. Is this the best training spot at my level, or is there a better one? Thanks in advance, guys.

It is the best training spot for F2P.

You can try casting Curse in a full metal armor, low-alching, or teleing.

Thats what i did on my pure, and if you are focused, can get to 55 in one day. From there, alching is the way to go.

If you have absolutely no money to spend on mage, then stick with FoG. Otherwise, cursing dummies in lumbridge yields good xp.

Since when was 33k xp per hour good?

To OP: I'd crumble undead until 43, and then I'd superheat mithril.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

It's a heck of a lot better then FOG, your lucky to get 5-10k XP\hour in that game. And crumble undead is barely 33k an hour, at a far greater loss.

If your f2p, I would suggest doing the cursing or crumble undead, or simply using something like fire bolt. If your a member, then I would suggest (a) going to the circus and getting some xp out of that and (b)get a mud staff and use curse, weaken, etc using only body runes , assuming of course that a mudstaff is not really expensive, I know some combo staffs are but I think mud is teh cheep one (maybe thats lava thats cheep, I dunno).

darkadvent2, I personally suggest you find a quiet place where you can get into a nice fight. ('S.O.S. Level 1, SouthEast Zone' is actually an awesome spot for this.) Once you hit level 55, then aim to high-alch metal stuff that you make from Mining/Smithing... This is how I find that I can make my easiest gp gains, and I thought you might be able to do the same. Remember, aim for 100% profit with high-alchs, which usually means making it all yourself. 8-)

Thanks to all of you for your help, I didnt realize i had so many options. And maybe more, because I'm not f2p...

If you a mem then, deffinatly do the circus. I don't know what you will get but I get someplace between 16k to 20k free xp a week (have been since I hit 60 mage). Assuming you can support the cost, you can use teleports whic I think are pretty high xp. If money is an issue, you can try and find good lecturns and make tele tabs (more effective once you can make camalot and house tabs though), which while alot slower should pay for all teh runes and some more to fund more regualr training. But for now, a mud battle staff costs about 165k, buy one if you can, get some bodies, and curse away in the lowest mage accuracyu stuff you can get.

Superheat is the best F2P XP

High alch beats superheating by a considerable margin.

Haven't tested it, but crumble undead is probably at least 40-50k xp an hour.

EDIT: Did a timed test, and got 40,180 xp per hour at ankous. But I was experiencing a lot of lag which slowed me considerably. However, considering the OP's lower mage level that's probably accurate, if slightly exaggerated.

alching - 65-70k exp an hour

Super heat: 53-58k exp an hour, 30-33k smithing exp an hour

overall super heating is more efficient for f2pers imo as you get the smithing exp which is extremely expensive otherwise for f2p, or very slow if you smelt them
