well. i've started planting herbs while i do slayer tasks, i'm planting snapdragons and i am using supercompost. Out of the 8 i've planted 6 of them have died thus resulting in major loss, am i doing somthing wrong or am i just very unlucky???

Very, very unlucky. Try going round using plant care more in future.

Then again, if you start getting really lucky 10+ herb harvests, you're losing out on 20k+ profit by picking the less expensive herb.

 

 

 

Generally, those two factors balance each other out on average. Right now, snapdragon is the more profitable herb.

I never denied that, but when you take the average from each herb snaps only beat out toadflax slightly, not enough to make me switch.
