Time is money - but is it in RuneScape?

Featured Replies

it depends on how much time is saved and what your preferred or best moneymaking strategy is.

For example my best money making strategy is rune crafting natures so i woodcutted teaks to level 99 because over 800k exp nolifing is better than about 400k nolifing.....and the money made from woodcutting would be 18m...i can make 18m pretty easily runecrafting so i chose teaks easy choice for such a time saved.

With firemaking the time saved between maples or yews was about 20hrs but the money difference would be 14m that would be 700k making/hr now thats close to what i make runecrafting but i runecraft a little more. I decided I'd rather be runecrafting than firemaking so chose yews.

With summoning it was either rock lobs which is over 100m cash loss for 99 magic and just the charms for 99 summon...thier are way cheaper ways to train magic and their are other skills that that 100m could be used for. With waterfiends i would break even or profit a little in the gathering the charms process and that is more useful to me than gathering 100m. I would get charms faster and would save a few hours overall in the long run by runecrafting the cash and then doing rocklobsters but i chose waterfiends as i would rather spend some extra hours their than runecraft 100m+.

And to the person that said no skill should be trained after 99 I would rather do more exp in runecrafting then spend an extra month or months woodcutting or fishing for a lower cash/hr just so I wouldn't need to runecraft after 99.

its all about the balance if your wasting 100k an hour. but earn 50k a hour then its a waste of money but if you earn 1mil a hour ( i wish ) then you might as well go doe the quicker method

Games I play: Halo 3, Halo wars.

i used to believe this for awhile until recently when i achieved 91 runecrafting and i realized that i could make 1m an hour, yet I didnt want to runecraft everyday just because it was the best money maker at my disposal. I think runescape is supposed to be an escape from the real world where we can get away from principles such as time = money and think more on the lines of playing a game for fun. thanks just my opinion ;)

That's actually pretty true. I normally am a big fan of the time is money principle. But to make this "system" work, you actually NEED to go out and make money in the hours you saved (which I mostly dont). Doesnt change the fact that, say, fishing sharks for money, is a "bad" thing to do though.

I personally subscribe to the time is money school of thought on runescape. For example, if I wanted to work on fletching, I could go cut yews for an hour, cut some yew longs, lather, rinse, repeat.

In that same hour, I could kill blue drags instead of cut wood, and i would earn enough geepees to buy 2-3 times as many logs as I could have cut (give or take, too lazy to work out the math right now :D ).

Having said that, I do understand that if my combat stats were maxed out, then it would be smarter to cut my own logs, for the eckspee.

iKs631 is now my new account, and Ks631Pistons will not be used from now on.

Hacked and quit as of May 2009.

Moved on to MapleStory, but that's infested with hackers now..

Want to come back to RS, but now I hear it's infested with botters..

iKs631 is now my new account, and Ks631Pistons will not be used from now on.

Why a new account, and why, again, one with so much numbers?

lmfao this is my original account now (Ks631)

it has numbers cuz its my real RSN

i created Ks631Pistons and iKs631 because the username Ks631 could not be used...

then i remembered that i created this account back in 2006!

but trust me, this will be my account from now on, since the username is the same as my RSN

Well if your spending more and saving time, you can then use the saved time to make more money than what you spent. So you would end up with more money than when your started. Look at it this way.

5M spent on fletching 20 hours spent, 10 hours saved, money made in 10 hours is 5M+

As opposed to:

3M spent on fletching 30 hours spent, 0 hours saved, money made in 0 hours is 0M
