I got bored, drew this and then did the coloring in photoshop... its the first time i've ever done something like this so tell me your thoughts....

Interesting style m8, great fun looking interpretation. While it is obviously not anatomically correct, it has a fun caricature style to it. If you wanted to take this further, try adding some cell shaded areas to it, it would really lift it off the page. If you want tips, let me know. Whilst I am by no means perfect myself, I could give you some pointers.

OK, the first bit of advice I can give you is to discover the polygon lasso tool, it will enable you to select certain areas, and shade 'em up. Secondly, decide on where you want your light source to be, it can be anywhere you wish, (after all your the artist) but you need to make sure you keep it consistent. If you wish, post the link to your image, so I can have a crack at putting some shadows on the beasty. I can then tell you how I got the results. Up to you m8.

All right then Teenage, here we are, a cell shaded version. It is not overly slick, as I didn't spend all that long on it. But I will talk you through how I did it. If you have a decade while I explain....

 

 

 

1)Make a new layer. Label it shadows or something. Put it on multiply above your base colours layer.

 

 

 

2)Using the polygon lasso tool, on the shadows layer, select an area which you wish to bath in shadow.

 

 

 

3)Use the colour picker tool and select the original colour of the area you want to shroud in darkness.

 

 

 

4)Using flood fill, if you want that crisp look, fill the area you selected with the colour you picked out. It should be shadowed over in a few shades darker than the original, giving you a proper shadow area.

 

 

 

5)You can select a darker shade manually, by double clicking on the active colour bit, which usually take you to a colour wheel to select a colour from.

 

 

 

There we go! I would be happy to do a detailed tutorial on cell shadeing if you wish, but I myself are still learning.

Lol this is going to take me a while... hahahaha... i really have no clue what you mean.

OK Layers are basically sheets of glass which you stack on top of each other. They allow you to try out things without effecting the image underneath it. You want to make a new layer. If your layer pallet is not showing, you can usually open it in view or tools or whatever. Click add new layer. Name it shadow and put the layer effect to Multiply Let me know when you have done this, or if you are having trouble, and we will try to pull you through.

I got it now but how did you get it go to a lighter shade in some spots.

Ok I left this out, until you had a grasp of shadows, 'cos it's a bit tricker. But if you think you are ready, I shall explain...

 

 

 

1)Make a new layer called highlights or something. I use the normal layer setting.

 

 

 

2)Use the polygon lasso tool and select the area you wish to apply highlights to. It's good to keep these small, depending on the effect you want.

 

 

 

3)Using a shade of the original colour, as close to white as you would like it to be, select the airbrush.

 

 

 

4)Using a light sweeping motion, lightly sweep across the area you wish to highlight.

There, everyone can see how a sig can be done without the typical abstractness by drawing for example :) Props for being original.

Well done teenage loser, a valient effort, and a nice end result. For the sig I would be tempted to show only a part of Batman, maybe crop it so you can only see the head. That way it will be bigger so people can actually see the effort you put in. Keep at it, and dont forget to post any new stuff you do.

lol you should have seen the ranger type i did... i did him buff like batman but it looked totally horrible... lol it was just amazing at how crappy it was.
