I am about to do lost city and was hoping for some advice. The guide recommends a set of magic robes, I was wondering if I could use my splitbark armour, being that I have them and do not really want to spend the coins on robes that I am possible not going to wear or use?

based on the tip.it guide where odes it say that you need mage robes

 

 

 

as far as i know they would be of no use during the quest

I don't see magic robes on there. You can't even take magic robes or splitbark onto entrana. So, no, you don't need magic robes, and you don't need splitbark.

I read it on the sals guide, which is why I was confused

You can hide in between the mushrooms, a bit south of the tree you're supposed to cut.It's easy and safe.
