Hubs
Thanks for everyone's help! The information you've all provided have proven to be very useful. I've decided to burst rock lobsters, and string/plank make/alch/enchant bolts, etc., when I can't be bothered to find a friend to help me get to lobbies. If you have any other ideas, feel free to post. I'm going to keep this thread alive  . If you need advice on training mage, read through the posts here. The information is very helpful (imo) ---Original Post--- ****If you're reading this, you might as well post. I really need the help, and every bit is appreciated  *** I'm thinking of getting 94 mage, but I have a few problems. There are three ways I'm thinking of using for achieving the level. 1) Alch. This will cost me ~5m. This IS the most efficient; it does however, takes more work than the other options. Oh, and it hurts my hand after awhile :ohnoes: 2) A Combination of String Jewellery and Alching. ~12m. I'm leaning towards this option atm, because it's a balance between hard work and efficiency/cost. 3) Stringing jewellery. ~20m. I'm not exactly rich, but this take literally no work whatsoever, so I may get the money to do this (although it is not efficient). I need your opinion on what I should do. Thanks in advance : . ~Fire cape achieved at combat lvl 80~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~
ultimatballr
Just high alch. Cheapest and not really the slowest. At worse you take a small loss and gain about 70k exp/hour.. but make some new friends while alching, at least in Edge bank w99.... seeing common faces is nice I personally plan on alching in my home and having my alter open to the public so I have people to talk to and something to watch : As well as helping others with their prayer training. Apparently, my signature was to big.
The_dmt1234
um how much exp per hour do you get stringing jewlery? and how does it work you cast it once to string your whole inventory or you get like 25 casts used at once? ]
KingDodongo
Apart from this, you could go DK's and such - sure, it's not fast, and it's risky, but you can make profit and it's fun! I would use high alch though, out of the options mentioned. It may be boring but if you do it in small chunks (like 500) then you can do that many in between slayer tasks and such. Good luck! With string jewellery, you click the spell once and it string each unstrung amulet in your inventory. It takes about 2 seconds per amulet, and each amulet takes up a set of runes. You can do about ~1800 casts per hour, which is about 150k exp, if you're fast at banking. ~Fire cape achieved at combat lvl 80~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~

Hubs
It's auto. You can chat/surf internet while you string. Sorta like Wc, or fishing  . Like I said, it takes no work; just costs a lot and is inefficient. ~Fire cape achieved at combat lvl 80~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~

ladycai
Alching. Alching to 94 isn't bad. Just do something else to take breaks, or do it meanwhile alching, like farming herbs. 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]

To Dmt: Yes it's the same for any amulet. Seems most people think alching is the way to go  . ~Fire cape achieved at combat lvl 80~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~
oropher
Maging rex is about as fast as alching. You should also make some good profit. Hubs
Meh, I tend to just look for 3-5 pouchs that alch with a loss of 70-80 gp. I'm sorta lazy :anxious:. Hubs
1 last question how long from 88-94 with stringing amulets and how much exp per hour? Its about 42.6k casts to 94 mage from 88 magic. If you're fast, you can get 1800 done or 150k exp in an hour. So it's going to take around 23.6 hours. Are you thinking about getting 94/99 mage stringing jewellery? lol ~Fire cape achieved at combat lvl 80~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~
Obtaurian
This information is relevant to my interests. Personally, I think you should use string jewelry, or mage Rex like Oropher said. Use the time saved (or profit gained) to do something fun. What amulets would you be stringing? To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
GameSock
If you do your homework, you can make alching some things profitable.

Use the time saved (or profit gained) to do something fun. What amulets would you be stringing? I normally do Gold amulets as they are very easy to buy, and are the cheapest. I have heard however, that ruby ones may be better, because you are able to sell off the strung amulets, making some of your money back (i.e. the only money you lose is on the astrals). I have not tried this before, so don't hold it against me if it doesn't work out :D . I normally alch my amulets I string to get more mage exp, since gold amulets are EXTREMELY hard to sell. I wouldn't bother unless you wanted to wait 2 years for 1k ammys : . ~Fire cape achieved at combat lvl 80~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~BLOG~blog~

DreamReaper
I did a combination string jewelry+level 6 enchant at the Mage Training Arena. Enchanting is much more engaging and faster than alching, and also gives MTA points - which is a plus.

As to your question, String Jewellery is awesome if you can afford it, and otherwise Superheating Iron bars is also good.
