I think I finally gained enough confidence to finally set out to reach my goal of 85 slayer.

I sold my santa and bought full guth, fury ammy, whip, black mask, drag legs and torag chest.

Anything else that I am missing that will help me with my goal?

Thanks. ::'

I bought dragon legs instead so I can avoid some repair costs.

^ Keep refreshing for a new facepalm.

Lets say you have the full set and no weapon. At 220k every 15 hours you have to make 14.6k gp/h to not lose anything.

You will save money on food with torags also.

Do Haunted Mine and enchant your salve ammy for the undead tasks you get. It dosen't stack with black mask though.

 If you put it that way then, I guess it won't hurt to buy the legs...

Also if you take your smithing level (say 60) divide it by 2 and get 30 thats how much percent reduction you can get off your barrows repair if you have an armour repair stand in your house (55 con) so thats only 10.2k/h if you have 60 smith and 55 con.

Whatever lol, I bought the Torag legs though. Although right now I am on a Iron Drag assignment...

Lose the dragon legs and torags. Guthans body and skirt is fine for slaying and you save 2 inventory slots for more loot. You will make more than repair cost's easily. At 80 smithing it cost's me just over 100k to repair (helm and spear at 100, body and skirt at 25) every 11.5 hours. If I don't make that then there is something seriously wrong! Also do the quests for Prostelyte armour for your prayer gear. Karils body/skirt is good for mage defense.

If you can do the Fight Caves for a fire cape. If you can't trimmed skillcape or skillcape. I suffice with a trimmed skillcape.

Go get a rune defender now. More use than any other shield (except anti-fire for dragons).

Do Smoking Kills to allow you to ban tasks (up to 4) and get the slayer helm (black mask with better stats and facemask, nosepeg, earmuffs and spiny helm all in one) Best way is to use the Canifis master for 9 tasks and on the 10th use Duradel for max points. I would buy in order of Helm, Rings, Fletching always leaving yourself enough points (200ish) to block tasks you don't like. For these I would suggest Iron and Steels with the other 2 the 2 you hate the most. Mine are Wyverns and Terrorbirds. Chances are you won't have unlocked Terrorbirds unless you're a quester.

Get some dragon boots if you don't already.

Ring wise, Berserker is the best but expensive for what it is. If you are on a budget I would go with warrior as if you are whipping (slash attacks) the extra boost is good. For anything else theres no harm in using the ring of wealth.

As someone has mentioned 68 summoning will aid you no end. Yes Guthans heals you, but it's slow compared to whip/defender, the Bunyip allows you more freedom to whip before having to switch to Guthans. Get some bones to peaches tablets too, handy for tasks were bones are dropped.

Finally once you are rich and have cash to spare then invest in a cannon. It makes certain tasks go by a lot quicker. It is a bit expensive though so only really for the hardcore slayer but there comes a point when you can offset the cannon costs with the profit you make. (I average 60k profit a task before "big" drops)

I like to wear bandos chest for "easy" monster (=low level) where you don't need as much defence and the str bonus can speed up things.

Cannon speeds things up, but, as mentioned, it is costly. Use with caution or you'll find you gp pile melting.

Get 70 prayer for piety if don't have it allready, prayer flashing can be helpful. Keep your levels high with att, def and or str pots.

Cat666 summed it up pretty good, I guess.

Could i get your stats please? Also super sets should be used on all tasks. It helps out quite a bit. Also 68 summoning for a bunyip, i found that when i got to 79 summoning i didn't need guthans any more because bunyips/ elemental titans cover a lot of healing. Sell the torags plate and legs, guthans will work just fine. I use Torags plate and Bandos Tassets as my armor for slayer tasks, and i use proselyte for when i need to pray on tasks.

I still use Guthans along with a Bunyip. Tasks last about 1.3 Bunyips, it's not worth summoning another Bunyip for the .3 as the next task could be one which requires a Terrorbird.

Guthans/Karils/Proselyte will sort you out for all slayer tasks and are reasonably cheap. You don't need to worry about lugging Torags around, if you are getting hit that much then you should be praying, the defence difference between Torags and Guthans is minimal. Bandos is better, but expensive and still means you lose 2 inventory spaces. Why bother when Guthan's suffices.

Great point about super sets. Always use super attacks and strengths. If you are getting hit often then bring along defences too. They obviously are not needed if you pray, and as you get higher levelled they become less useful. I take another dose once it drops around 10 points.

It is worth summoning another bunyip as they cost 2k a pouch. 2k is nothing and having to use guthans for 1 minute is slowing you down alot more then 2k an hour.

With a bunyip you wont ever need guthans for slayer. You may argue high level cb famillars with guthans is good, but truth is at those levels you should have an sgs which makes guthans obsolete once again.

Bandos is good but dont blow all your money on it. If you need defense use a verac skirt with a prosy top. This combo gives sufficient defense for all tasks, and lets you use some str prayers very cheaply. combo this with a fury, and a trimmed cape and you got a very nice pray bonus. Id say its probly worth using one of those +3 pray capes until you get a trimmed cape. you can always sell it after

Salve (e) is useless for slayer, fury and black mask/slayer helm produces more damage so salve has no place in slayer anymore.

always use super sets. always use duradel. block metal tasks asap (irons and steels) another 2 blocks which would be wise are hellhounds and greater demons. You may want to skip wyverns until you can efficiently kill them.

Buy karils and a SS for str training/water fiends. or if your not that rich a zammy spear for waterfiends.

Dont use d scim/defender its horrible for slayer. if you have around 85 str it will be enough damage output to be effective until you get a sarasword

Your set up for almost all tasks is:

Slayer helm

Fury

Prosy top

V skirt

Barrows gloves - If you dont have them get them, along with points for 4 slayer blocks

D boots

Whip

Defender

Zerker ring/wealth/warrior. No wealth at mages

pray cape

use pineapple pizzas for food. Using a super restore can save you the place of a summon pot, useful still since your praying str

cannon is your friend

salve (e) gives +20% str + att (on undeads like skeles or specters)

slayer helm gives +15'% str + att on task

well i still use salve on specters - its worth it for me...

block steels, wyverns and terrorbirds.

i do irons with melee - a lot easier than wyverns

greater demons are a very fast / good task - only annoying thing are dogs, but they stop attacking after like 15 mins in the same area

hellhounds take long, but give good xp and a lot of clue scrolls - your decision if you block...

on the other things i agree ;)

No its not worth it, the extra defence of a fury/helm and the extra strength bonus of the fury is better. O and fry has a higher prayer bonus if your praying.

An expensive alternative to bringing guthans along with a bunyip is bringing an SGS. The nice thing about SGS is that you can stick out the 0.3 part of the task quite nicely with the spec...usually. And the combination SGS and bunyip means you can do black demons tasks with two or three prayer doses. (you use prayer protect when your health goes down below 50. Bunyip heals you. SGS spec heals you and adds prayer when you are not prayer protecting).

I completely agree that just sticking with guthan skirt and body is more economical as lugging along torags.

That said, since I usually bring an SGS instead of guthans I tend to vary my outfit more based on whim.

I tend to wear verac skirt instead of guthan skirt, but a guthan platebody. It's mainly because of the prayer benefit because I tend to pray during tasks as well (free melee bonus). And if the opposition is weak I bring verac body instead of guthan as well.

And sometimes I just vary for the sake of it.

I do actually own torag legs and body, and sometimes wear it, but then it is just for fun.

I also love my karils. It seems to work better than black d'hide. Great for those tasks where you need magical defense.
