wurmskin
Mages are PAINFULLY slow at any level below 85 woodcutting I believe. So I don't suggest you even try. I'd also suggest you visit this woodcutting guide: the only AoW worthy one I've seen ;) . It has a boatload of information which'll help you plan out and attain 99 woodcutting. ^ Refresh for a new signature ^
pinguimmaiden
Just cut mages when you are 95+ cause they are very slow. If you wanna profit getting 99, do yews at 85-99.
Fools_Taco
Mages are slow even at 99, just do yews all the way.

Buy a d axe and go to either the teaks for speed or eucs for gp as the guide suggests. GL on the goal, just don't be mad at yourself if you want to take a break at 85 or 92. 99 wc is about 200-300 hours of listening to chopping sounds depending on the method. Oh and you can introduce yourself on this thread if you want to: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=583381&start=
robbyfighter
If you just want the 99 go for willows. Use a place where there are people to chat with. This makes it a lot easier.

JohnPax
At 95 I find mages horribly horrible, If you want cash over exp you're much better of doing yews in the time you save.
X3EN
You can powertrain with teaks, which are better than both willows and maples.
