Featured Replies

Im going to ice trolls for good exp and to get some money to pay for more c balls. do you need to do troll romance to kill them? should i bring prayer pots?

Ummmm, dont know much about cannoning but im pretty sure you will lose tons on c balls ice trolls wont make enough money to near pay for cannoning 99

Infact they will. They give about 300k cash a hour.

OT: if these are the trolls im thinking about then you just need to have completed both Freminnik isles and trials.

Pureprayer, you're awesome.

Do you happen to know the exp per hour, is it anything close to chinning?

Anywhere from 40-70k I've heard...not too close to chinning really..

The Truthscape guide in question is very old. Prices have changed and new methods have surfaced since then.

You'd be better off with a mix of chinchompas and aviansies if you're interested in fast ranged training on a budget.

I tried them, they used to work but after that they seem to have been nerfed.

It's a really fun method, never any people there, but nowadays they don't seem to drop rune kites and granite shields as often as they used to...

I digress. (as usual)

I was doing ice trolls not long ago just for a bit of fun, and even though the drop rates of some armour pieces have been altered, there is still enough drops such as half keys, ranarr/snap seeds and herbs to help pay for it.

So yeah, ice trolls are still a viable way to profit from decent ranged exp in a non-boring way.

I would not fully use TruthScapes equipment though, as it can be easily made better.

God Mitre

God Crozier/Whip (Crozier if not worried about personally dealing damage)

God Stole

Explorer Ring

Bandos/White Boots

White Gloves

Proselyte Body

Proselyte Legs

Fremennik Round Shield (A MUST)

Setup I used, around +39 prayer, or +45 or something, can't remember. ::'

As I've said on a few other topics its a very fast way of getting exp, but the profit is questionable.

SirHartlar stated he got 80k exp in 50 minutes expecting to hit the 100k exp in an hour with a bit of tweaking.

With chins and avainsies you need to kill avainsies for about 3 hours to earn enough to cover the cost of 1 hours chinning.

Using reasonable rates (30k/hour avainsies and 310k/hour chins) there about on par.

(30k*3)+310k is 400k in 4 hours, 100k/hour with zero profit. This, if 100k+ at ice trolls is achievable, puts ice trolls slightly ahead of the avainsie/chin method.

Raw shark drop rate has also been nerfed apparently.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

Wouldn't it logically be better to range with a crossbow + broad bolts or bone xbow + bone bolts since he's only after ranging xp?

I mean, he might want the melee, but the range xp is what he really want if he's after 99.

Or am I missing something? Is their ranged defense too high?

Yes.

Replace the whip with a rune c'bow and broad

The gloves with vamps (or barrows gloves) - this is if your ranging or melee'ing

Replace proselyte bottoms with monk robe bottoms (same bonus far less weight) - and top if you find your using a lot of scrolls or hitting a lot of 0's)

Boot with either lightness or a range bonus boots

Ring with ring of wealth - there drops aren't classed as common as far as I'm aware.

You loose some prayer bonus, ~3 if I remember rightly, but you will get far quicker kills (more exp) and be-able to run for longer. The idea of the offensive gear is to kill the females ASAP to reduce your damage.
