Router stuff.

Well, I have 2 computers, a wii and a DS that I want to connect all to the same router.

Now, they were all on a WPA code.

So my DS didnt work, but everything else did.

So, I changed it to 'WEP', but now, everything but the 2nd computer work.

My computer is by ethernet cable,

My mums (one that doesnt work) is by wireless, and wont connect,

My DS is also wireless, but needs WEP to work.

Not sure about my Wii, but its wireless.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

WOW

In all seriousness, if someone gets that many posts in a 'building a computer' thread, I'm sure people know how to work a router.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Calm down, maybe we just didn't want to help you?

Computer building and networking are different, and require different skills and knowledge.

I'm not hyped, im just saying.

and :|.

If you know how to build a computer you should know how to set up a modem etc.

I dont want to talk to indians on the phone, so I need help here =d

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Building a computer is easy, you just take the parts and plug them in. PC software is more complicated, in my opinion, than hardware.

Have you tried unplugging and putting back in the wireless adapter on your mother's computer? Sometimes I find my one won't connect unless I do that.

I believe the DS is only compatible with WEP, so focus on keeping that and trying to get the other computer to work. If you have a spare ethernet cable and it's close enough, try connecting via that.

Well, I plan on keeping it WEP coded, because the normal one was WPA, and it didnt work with my DS. I changed it to WEP and then back to WPA, and my mums computer didnt work, so I changed it back to WEP, so I need to configure her (wireless) thingy to WEP.

Have you changed the internet settings on your mother's computer?

I cant, because I need to go to the router thing which, ironically, I think involves the internet. Dont worry about it, it seems like a fuss guys, I guess I'll just call the indians.

THE HARD TO UNDERSTAND indians.

Also Ray, you don't need to change your router settings. The problem is with the wireless card/adapter and your computer's wireless settings.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

Athough you shouldn't need to access the router's settings, you don't actually need to be connected to the internet to get to it.

You'll need to type in an ip address into your browser address bar, which one depends on your router, check your manual for details. As long as you're connected to the router you should be able to access it.

That, of course, depends if you are connected but not receiving internet. You do have some method of connecting to your router, right?

If you're using Vista (I don't know about XP or others OS's) there's an option to repair your connection if you go into the networking centre. That might work, or restarting your adapter, and other various options it offers you.

If you didn't, that means the computer is still set for wpa, no wonder it's not working. You have to go in to the computer's internet settings and change them to wep and then put your wep key in the computer's settings.

Dont worry guys, thanks for the help though, it seems a bit complicated to talk over a forum about so I'll ask some indians.

On a normal occasion, I would be all over that comment. But after talking with Dell for three months with sub-par solutions, I understand your pain. I wish you luck.
