Before anyone suggests anything: What's your budget for the total build?

Without some kind of budget guideline, it's hard to say.

As for sound, go for a Sound Blaster (can't beat 'em!) You'll pick up a very good one for £50 or so.

For graphics, you've got two basic options, NVIDIA or ATI.

NVIDIA - Slighty more expensive, more clockable, better for gaming, more mainsteam, run hotter, not so well made.

ATI - Slightly cheaper for same performance, less clockable, better for video playback/general use, better management software, run cooler, generally better made and more reliable.

It's up to you, I've got a PNY NVIDIA 9800GT 512mb - picked it up for £100, and it's great.

You could probably get a ATI Radion HD 4850 512mb for just over £100, which will have a bit better performance.

These are the two GFX cards I recommend considering, unless you're a hardcore gamer either of these will suffice for MOST games, and will continue to do so for a couple of years,

best of luck! ::'

As for a case, it doesn't really matter. As I've got a Micro ATX mobo, I went for a media center style case, as long as it's cool and light you'll be fine. I suggest you spend around £35 on a case, no more and no less ::'

That's a good point about a budget..I honestly haven't even thought about it. TBH, I was at fry's today and I bought the mb and processor on a whim because I'm tired of messing with the one I have and trying to fix it. I'd guess about mid-range.. thanks for those suggestions. They help a lot. The guys at Fry's are getting tired of me. lol

Damn, the cpu cooler i was gonna suggest isn't availble in USA.

No fancy links, takes too much time with one hand (burned 3 fingers on right hand earlier today lol).

Cooler - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835233003

Mobo is atx so you'll need a case that takes atx.

Antec 300 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... ntec%20300 , low price good cooling

CM Centurion - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811119068

P180/2, Sonata are really nice but more expensive.

Gpu... Midrange? 9800gt/4830 or 9800gtx+/4850. Pick the cheapest one with an aftermarket cooler is my advice.

WD Caviar - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822136319 (+sata cable)

Samsung optical - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6827151173 (+sata cable)

OCZ 500w - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817341016 (great price after rebate, even modular!)

Gskill pc6400 4gb - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231122

Depends if you want to overclock or not, stock would be fine for normal use and overclocking (C2D's OC well with stock) but if you want to go insane OC'ing (4ghz+ etc.) then an aftermarket cooler is a good suggestion.

Overclocking is probably beyond the realm of my technical abilities...I think it means to make your computer go faster than it's supposed to? Since most of my apps are office related..I'm guessing I should be fine. Thanks again. Newegg luvs you guys. <3:

Over clocking your processor will make your computer run a bit faster, and can easily be done from the Bios.

Even without clocking, I recommend a cooler. I got one for like £10, and it's great :)

Lower noice is always nice... If you don't want the one i posted, go for something like this:

Rosewill cooler (pwm) - 25$

Even cheaper Rosewill cooler (pwm) - 20$

I can't say you'll enjoy your Intel fan.
