May 10, 200917 yr Hmm. We have items, we have demand, we have supply, we have currency, we have trade.... yes, we do have an economy. Honestly, sometimes I wish they DID control the economy. It would make productions skills profitable again. Just because something is controlled does not always mean it's a bad thing. I think rares should be independent of this control, however. You can't control an economy. It's a game. They can. Twitter ||| Google+ ||| Facebook ||| LinkedIn ||| My very interesting weblog about science
June 29, 200917 yr Its weird, and its changed alot from what i liked. I prefered it when world 2 was where all the buying and selling happened. It is alot easier to merchant by yourself now too. Before GE- I had a friend who played, always had around 100M cash, quite well off. After GE- He started playing again about 3 weeks ago after 3 years(he had some time on his hands again) Made 50M out of merchanting dragon bones from 10M in 4 days, with no merchanting clan help. I dont know how he does it man, but its crazy now. Currently - Slaying to 99! [hide=Drops]Notable drops-Dragon- 10 Platelegs / 3 Med Helms / 10 Plateskirts / 1 Spear / 3 Left Halves / 4 Claws / 3 Ruined Armour Lumps / 200+ Boots / 3 PickaxesGodwars- 1 Bandos Chestplate / Shard 1 / Shard 2 / 4 Sets of ancient robesBarrows- 250M+ LOOT Including 10 Spears (back in the day) / Guthans spear and Dharoks helm in 1 chest (at the time it was worth 8M, a big deal to many people then lol) / 8 Guthans helms / 3 Dharoks helms / 4 Veracs Helms / etc.Other Slayer stuff- Whips 20 / Dark Bows 3 / Granite Mauls 20 / Ranging Ammys 6 / 1 Visage (steel dragons) / 40+ effigies I play on and off. I'll play the game solidly for a month then quit for the next 3, lol.[/hide][/size]
June 29, 200917 yr There is not so much an economy as a market... An economy is supposed to support growth and foster stable progress... There is mass over production, hence the properties of supply and demand do not work...Say you were making chocolate teapots, pretty soon it becomes apparent to the buyer that it is not worth buying, hence the seller loses money, hence less chocolate teapots are made. In runescape a chocolate teapot that gives you 100 cooking XP and 100 Crafting XP would be mass produced constantly, despite the fact that it doesn't sell. I remember once going to varrock armour shop to sell my 100 Steel plate bodies, only to find that someone had sold 2000 to the store already...So I used my money to buy those bodies, and then world hopped, making a good 200K in the process of selling them(I only had about 200k at the time so I couldn't buy all of them). That is an economy, where you find new markets to sell your goods for a profit. If you were going to do that with the current economy...say with Lobsters, you would buy them, wait 3 days and sell them, making a few mil profit(If you were trading large numbers). Then you could buy more because the price would be deflated, jacking the price back up, meaning you could sell them again. That is not an economy, there is no consumables, no processing, just profit. It reminds me of a saying 'If all the mountains in the world were turned to gold and silver, the world would not be one grain of rice richer.' You cannot live on money alone, you need people to produce and use goods... http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.
July 8, 200917 yr Haha, they don't generate items. If something isnt buying, I'll start saying that Im buying X of that item, then the person will go Ill sell you X. And a few seconds later I have the item. Runescape has an economy, it might be a bit messed up but its still an economy. Jagex do have control over the prices though.
July 8, 200917 yr This is an idiotic thread. I'm not an expert, but anyone who has a bit of knowledge of Runescape will tell you that there is an economy. This is not a debate, its a question. This is stupid, one sided, and the only possible answer is yes, there is a runescape economy. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!
