RawRR Posted March 28, 2009 Share Posted March 28, 2009 Recently, I was going through the rules, to see what this site is about, and I did not find one rule that is major. This rule is no pornography or nudity. As we all know, this forum is most likely filled with minors under the age of 18, as my self, and some parents, unlike mine, care about what their child is viewing. If this rule is added and I bypassed it, please let me know as I do get clumsy sometimes with my reading. But if it is not a rule, I think we should add it. Note: It does state on Tip.it's Term of Service page when signing up no pornography, but most people skip straight by the ToS and go to the Forum Rules. While pornography may not be explicitly mentioned in the Tip.it Forum Rules, it is absolutely NOT permitted and if found, should be reported immediately using the Report Post Function. This sentence in section 1.5 - 1.5 - Flaming, Violence, Harassment & Pointless Vulgarity could refer to pornography though (even though it does not say the exact word "pornography"): Any post using excessive vulgarity, threatening or harassing, obscene or hateful, deliberately inaccurate or misleading, explicitly sexual in nature, an invasion of a person's privacy, abusing our censor, or in any other way violates the law, may be edited or removed and the user may be banned (at the discretion of the Administrators). Even I don't think there's any way the rules could be shown to allow pornography. That just crosses the line into non-negotiable territory... Basically whatever us users can keep as a mature discussion. They have the strict rules, but they are relaxed as long as it can be kept mature. As soon as it crosses the line, it's banned. I like it it could be applied to certain other areas too, but I'm not talking about it more. There are, however, no "phpBB terms of service". What you agree to when you join a phpBB forum can vary from forum to forum, as the terms of agreement are entirely editable, and the content is entirely up to the administrators of said forum. I was under the impression that the GPL also allowed for restrictions on code use, and I figured this would fall under them. I didn't know that rule existed, but I'm pretty sure it could under the GPL. What you agree to when you join a phpBB forum is not any "phpBB terms of service", rather a default, generic terms of service agreement written by the phpBB group. The GPL is so copyleft that there's practically only one way to violate it, and that's by redistributing a program licensed under the GPL without making full source code easy to find.
