What I would like to see next, would be a sort of integrated keyboard. Maybe, once you are done drawing with your hands, you can then go and step on a pedal (or something) and the tactipad will "turn into" a keyboard. Basically, have the hotspots on the tactipad be a map of a keyboard as well, on command. That seems like it would further reduce the inconvience of having a big microscope for a mousepad, and having to work around it. I had this idea a long time ago, I guess someone else did too.

I dislike: Its waaay too free form.....

 

 

 

I like: how you are able to treat it like a piece of paper, twisting, zooming, etc. all at once.

Btw, there are actually keyboards now that project themselves onto surfaces (i.e. desks, floors, walls....whatever!)

You are the only one of us likely to be using it soon at the probably retail price of $1,000 and the intended audience of professionals with work flow concerns.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If I was going to spend a grand I would definitely get a cintique over that. Of course, I would need a bit over a grand.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For that matter I would love a tablet pc. Like a cintique in some way, but more justification for the cost...and portable!

It doesn't look very practical for what I do.. though it does look schweet. I'll probably keep using regular tablets - even if I get enough for a cintique. I'd much rather put that money into learning/producing traditional painting. Digital Art just isn't as open when it comes to artists who don't like producing for companies. I love art with a passion, but methinks im better off going the real-estate route if I want to get anywhere in life.

It looks nice, they should really incorperate that with digital art. Itd be VERY resourcful with Graphic Designing, Photoshop, and Flash animation. Though what it currently looks as is far too basic, not many possibilitys at ALL.

Yeah I feel the same. That is why a tablet pc would be the closest I would come. I do art only as a hobby, but my real job does require a notebook computer at times, so a tablet would be the best of both worlds :)

I don't get why they are only showing us circles and rectengles. If there are more to it, they should show us.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The dragging thing is impressive. Useful or not is the problem..those programers probably have wasted their time.

They are only slowing circles and retangles because it's just to show the basics of the program. It certainly has potential, and looks like a fun way to work with stuff :) If Adobe and other major companies would support this thing I am sure we'll see it a lot in the future.

If Adobe priced this technology with a regular, mouse-using version at about the same....I'd chose the mouse and regular command version definately :wink:

Imagine if you could zoom, rotate, etc with one hand on the pad, and use your wacom (since alot of you seem more comfortable with it) with the other hand... I can only imagine pulling my fingers apart, and that affecting the canvas by it zooming in closer, while my arms don't have to move to the Z button and then back to a resting position. To be honest, I don't think a cintique has much more power over this... The main reason traditional artists have problems moving to a digital pencil is the texture and feel of the canvas, not necessarily the ability to directly draw on it. Altough I guess drawing directly on a screen would have a bit better of an effect than a tablet.... Either way, I doubt our studio would pick one of these up anytime soon, but if they do come to production for a fairly cheap price we might consider it. Anything we can use to speed up workflow is always a plus.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking of workflow, we recently hooked up some midi controllers to one of the computers running SoftimageXSI, our 3D package... Now we can rotate, transform, scale, zoom, dolly, crane, etc all by moving a real set of sliders right next to the keyboard. It's really pretty cool.
