Aldeon
My first ever try at something the likes of this I've always done stuff like abstracts and landscapes. Ok i got bored, saw an article a magazine about time running out for earth, and decided to illustrate that into image form using mainly photoshop. Here's what came to mind Heres the rundown: No 3d modeling programs used (i dont have any except bryce, which i suck at) Everthing done in photoshop except Skies - Terragen Base Water coloring - Terragen Palm tree leaves (not base/trunk) - royalty free stock collections the random objects such as the bottles and clock - royalty free stock collections. Obviously floor, hourglass, sand were done with photoshop. I know my sand could use a little work. :D C/C welcome EDIT* I had pasted the floor in last, and so the original glass was drawn as a gradient forgot to make it clear, but other than that keep the c/c coming* as you can tell everything else than whats in the glass is kinda dull and not very saturated even a little bit blurry (hourglass blurred by accident and couldnt fix) to make the focys be whats inside which is the beatuiful beach slowly being destroyed by man

In either case there is nothing wrong with creating it in Bryce and editing it in photoshop. I would suggest you work on keeping cleaner lines that will improve your image editing results considerably. Keep it up.
Aldeon
yea the lines need to be a little bit cleaner but it got messed up along the way. But no none of it was done in bryce. I couldn't make an hourglass in bryce even with a tutorial, a professional teacher, and a gun pointed to my head. I suck. I really wasted the 50$ on that one! But no shape and gradients done in photoshop. i originally drew the hourglass with gradients then added some relfections on the bottom base (distorted cuz i screwed up). but when i added the floor i forgot to make the glass part transparent. i also see the blurred sand on the right (top glass) but sharp on the left. but yea its all photoshop, terragen, and a few stock images. btw* keep in mind this my first ever try at something like this i've always done plain landscapes and abstracts. maybe some simple drawings. Nadril
Ooh, very interesting. For the glass part of the hour glass, look up some tutorials to make a glass sphere type thing. right now that part seems sort of flat. very interesting though, did look 3d to me at first as well :D

That's what i meant it to be. If i knew how to use bryce i would sure use that instead, but yeah. no tuts were used which i why i used the trust clouds and plastic wrap put into a layer bend for glass. I really do feel very satisified in my first work of this type - i guess called photo montage...or something.

tttia
This is an interesting piece of work. The sand, as you mentioned could use a little help, but overall it i very good, and the colors seem to pop out at you. Good job!

_k0m0d0_
Intresting work you got there, But like Nadril said the glass is a bit plain, it needs more 3d. Really nice!
