Dragon Axe...... i mean Hatchet - worth the money?

Featured Replies

I'm currently in the process of cutting 4343 yew logs to get me from 65 to 75 woodcutting. And yes i know maples, willows, and God knows what else is quicker but i'm mainly in it for the 2m profit as i already have 2m total from slayer so that'll give me 4m towards bandos chest plate or dfs!

But seeing as i'm gona be doing this for a while i have a dialemma..... if i bought a dragon axe at med price on GE, would it:

1) be worth it?

2) Be quicker than rune? if so, by how much?

3) re-sell at med price after woodcutting is done?

Thanks in advance.

Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.

Well, assuming you don't have loads of money to spend, you should get the Dragon hatchet if you are going to cut a lot.. If you are just cutting like 1,000 logs and then don't cut for a month again, I would stick to the Rune hatchet.

i'm sure the price has gone up, i think i bought at 1.4 a while back and now erm . . 1.7? it speeds up the time spent cutting, even when it was 3m it was worth it, it saves you time and if you use it enough you always got your moneys worth

It's definately worth the money, and I beleive that the dragon hatchet cuts 15% faster than the rune axe. So it's a pretty good increase.

Q) Tyky95 - How much better is a dragon axe compared to rune? Is the dragon axe really worth having?

A) Mod Mark - Yes! I chatted to our balancing department about this today and learnt the following:

Dragon axes are approximately 5 to 10% better than rune axes. This depends entirely on what sort of tree you are hitting and what your current Woodcutting level is, but its roughly 5-10% better. Having a better axe means more logs and therefore more xp. The nice thing about dragon axes is that they are rare enough to hold their trade values this means you can be relatively safe in the knowledge that you can buy one and resell it. Any extra logs you did get from using it would more than pay for any money you might lose from a shifting resell price, assuming you used it efficiently while you were trying it out.

Mod Roderick Even if you only notice a small difference between two tools, over time the difference will really add up. It's always pleasing to find threads which discuss such issues, where people take the effort to test items and publish their findings on the forums.

Shout to LowFatMilk for the sig! Doin your body and sig good

at most you'll lost 200-400k, which is pretty easy to make back.. save everything you cut.. youll come back with more money then you started.. Id say its worth it.

You could always just borrow one test out how many logs you cut per hour against a rune axe and decided if you wanna buy it or not
