The stabs bonus of the LBS is better then using a whip since Miths are weak to stab. Metal Dragons, including Miths, have a weakness to stab attacks. Now on Irons, and depending on stats Steels, the difference isnt noticable but when fighitng a Mithril Dragon you can tell. I don't have personal experience but i know a big group of people that have experience with it, and they all say that the LBS > Whip.
