that is so confusing. could be sorta cool though. approximately how many people go to your school? just wondering.

About 300-400 people. Maybe less, im thinking its in the 200 range actually.

Also we have a marching band thing, which should be starting up soon.

Our bandies got new uniforms this year, they're beautiful. The ones they had were from... the '60s? They were old, and part of the reason the bad didn't win at competitions (when there was money for such things) was that their uniforms were outdated. At a marching competition they should have won at (when there was money for a full field show), they got 4th because their uniforms had capes.

 

Oh well, this year they went to a state showcase/competition thing (the taped audition was the competition part to qualify them to play, the joke was that band was "going to state") based on their awesomeness and skill. (Symphonic band, not marching)

Did i mention that our football team sucks, but the school throws money at it like it's a stripper working the pole?

 

Meanwhile our hockey team was state champions for 3 years in a row (i think this year would have been 4 but we just recently lost) and gets no school monies.

Our football team won state this year. Band got to play at it too, even though it was in a city 4 hours away.

We have about 1600. My class is the smallest at around 345. I think my friend's school, HS alone (it's K-12) is that size, but I still can't imagine school that small.

Our football team hasn't been really good since my dad was in high school. Which was like the 70s-80s.

 

Our band goes everywhere, New York, New Orleans, Tennessee, [bleep]ing everywhere.

 

My graduating class is around 300.

Our band is going to Hawaii senior year, and we went to Orlando last year (although I didn't go :thumbdown: ). We're going to Portland (Oregon) in a few weeks.

Also my school doesn't have a football team. Actually, not having a football team is one of the many reasons why I am able to go to school here.

When our school had a football team, a kid that was in the family that founded this school got injured and was paralyzed from the waist down. So the father of that child broke a deal with the land owners of the school, they were allowed to keep educating kids on that land as long as they never ever create a football team for the school. The End.

Which is good because we would probably suck at football anyways.

what do you guys go places for? Like who/what do you play for.

 

@halo: not a fan of football myself, but that's pretty lame. Though with a school size of 355 people you wouldn't exactly have a good selection of people either.

I don't even know, we played at Disney World last year (literally at the park). We always just find some excuse to travel.

Most notable thing, that I remember, was that the bad played for the Queen Mary, the huge ass cruise ship, as it entered Bar Harbor many years ago.

That's about it. I think we've won nationals for our Jazzband many times before.

Out Jazzband is freaking amazing.

So I'm thinking my school dumps assloads of money into our band so they can go play places for nothing. Thanks school district.

I've never heard of band kids paying more than 200 to go to these places.

Band people at my school paid $850 when they went to Florida for, 7 days? Including Disney and universal. But they played at Disney, that was the purpose. They rode coach buses and had three full buses, so they had good group rates to things I suppose, and band boosters here raise an insane amount of money.

I'm bored. Gonna re-organize my iPod and maybe do some homework. Goodnight possibly.

Maybe my school doesn't dump as much money as i thought. But, why would you pay that much money just to go play an instrument somewhere. The way I've heard it, they keep you on a tight leash so you're not doing anything particularly fun.

 

Also, they ride coach buses, my lax team rides in a school bus with 2 to a seat, and all our gear smashed into the asiles. if there was a fire, most of us would probably die.

I agree with you Ownage, your school sounds like it just shovels money into the music program. Which is nice, but there are more important classes that need a fair share too.
