Just like how 50 years ago we'd be talking about how people would get uncomfortable around black people and that they shouldn't be allowed in the military because it wouldn't make people work together as well. Now no one gives a [bleep]. We just have to let the close-minded people catch up.That's not really true. In Greece and Rome, being gay was the norm in a lot of cases. Sparta, for example, had special practices for getting their men to like women when they were about to be released from military service, that way they'd have children and not just get with other guys. If they cause a problem, then kick them out. That's not a problem with their being gay. That's a personal self-control issue. Its really no secret that 2 people who've served in combat together share a stronger social bond than almost, if not all others, including married couples. Nah, it goes beyond that, basically the whole idea of "platonic love" is from men toward men, whereas love to woman is more social convention to procreate. Or something like that. Social norms and morals aren't going to change in the millitary. Once homosexuality becomes more openly accepted in society, then changes in the millitary will follow.
