September 7, 200520 yr I'm not saying that scaming is a bad thing and should be stopped, but incase anyone cares this is how you, or rather Jagex, do it. I'm going to make a wild assumption that 80% of the time scammers succeed in taking your money is because no one bothers to look at the second trade screen. You get such a great deal, or so you think, that you want to hit "agree" as fast as possible so as to not allow the other guy (the scammer) to change his mind. Little do you know, he has altered the original deal. Trust me, I've been there. To stop this problem once and for all, Jagex needs to install a 5 second time limit before you can hit agree on the second trade window. Or in other words, you can't hit agree on the second trade window for at least 5 seconds. That way your basically forced to look at the second trade window and no ones feelings get hurt while you stall to finish the trade. Now I'm not saying this is completely fool proof because there are some people that, I believe, would manage to get scammed even then. But that way at least only idiots would lose their hard earned valuables. 8) *edit* and I <3 cabbage. so green, and leafy, and good.
September 7, 200520 yr dont really need that, plus would jest annoying people that will power mine or fish or whatever and then give the stuff to a friend....not forgeting them lvl91+ nat crafters =0, would cut thier profits big time. I think there are more negatives then positives from it...why make it a pain for everyone jest because some people get scamed...its their own falt RSN: Bantam222 [105 combat] [1578 total level]Support my quest for 1600 Skill Total!
September 7, 200520 yr this is a better anti-scam idea than the weekly "omg have jagex send the gestapo to the houses of scammers". I think 5 seconds isn't so terrible that runecrafters are going to lose all their money, but is enough so you can at least take a glance at the trade screen if you're careless enough to not do that normally
September 7, 200520 yr I was thinking maybe they should let the 5-second rule be an option in the trade, which means that players can turn on or off the 5 second-rule. This is how it works: when none of the 2 players in the trade turn on the 5second rule, then there will be no waiting for 5 seconds. If either one or both players turn on ther 5 second rule, then the 5 second rule comes into effect. Simple and solved, isn't it?
September 7, 200520 yr Except then we have the same problem that people will want to get the trade over and done with quickly because they think they're getting a good deal. And we know that scammers wont click it. Having it as an option would stop *SOME* scamming, but not as much as having it compulsory.
September 7, 200520 yr Author The 5 second rule can be turned on in the set-up menu before you start trading, hense before you see the other guy's tempting offer. So if you are on your way to world 1 and think that someone will probably try to scam you, then u turn it on and no one complains about being scammed anymore. *edit* and I <3 cabbage. so green, and leafy, and good.

September 10, 200520 yr Thats a good idea, but for ppl on your friendlist, there shouldn't be a 5second wait, since ppl on friendlist are ppl we know and trust...mostly :P
September 11, 200520 yr Yeh, either something along those lines or reverse it, and have a 3-5 second limit on teh FIRST trade screen after the removal of an item. In other words, if both players have accepted and someone takes an item off, obviously both trade screens cancel acceptance, that already happens. But if an item is removed the accept button is 'frozen' (for alck of a better word atm) for a short period of time. Then again, this could cause some annoyance too.
