Gerbil
How can I tell when a merch clan is futzing with prices?

Mike_Ike111
The graphs, research and what the item is. Most items that cost above 1-2m aren't manipulated because it would be harder to get a large enough group together for the item.
Gerbil
and checking GE graphs Exactly. So what patterns do I look for and with what items? P.S. Over a year ago I think someone was merching swamp lizards because the price balooned to about 300 times its original size (sorry - don't remember exact amount). Shoulda been there at the start to cash in!
walka92
well join clan chats that are known to merch, like 2lum (or is it 2-lum now, im not sure), chessy018 and plenty of others, and check what item they say. also, a sudden and steep rise from nowhere is generaly a merch clan. its pretty easy to spot. an example if water talismans, go have a look at their graph. somewhere in the middle is a massive rise/crash coz of merchers I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come
Rien
A certain price-manipulation clan recently merchanted crushed nests and grimy toadflax, as can be seen in these updated graphs that I've just now taken screenshots of: [Crushed Nests] [Grimy Toadflax] Price Manipulation is clearly evident in these price trends, and the GE item graphs quite obviously speak for themselves in this. Kinosjourney
TBH i was with the clan who merched CLEAN toadflaxes and crushed nests, we did impact the grimy toadflaxes too i believe. Well the clan chat are called Smokin Mils and i recommend you not to merch with it cause i personally already have lost lots of cash cause they provide the wrong info to the ppl in the chat. They said that it would take ~3 weeks until they would dump the items then 6 days later they dumped it while i was gone on a trip with the family and when i got back i was screwed :P

[hide=Clean Toadflax][/hide] Anyway, I'd suggest to anyone considering joining one of these price-manipulation clans to avoid doing so. The leaders of these clans often extort their own members by releasing false information and dumping their stockpiled items before the agreed date, and Jagex may well crack down on the practice in the near future, futhermore. Price manipulation is morally dubious to begin with, so it's probably best to stay well away from it all; personally, I keep track of the activities of several of the most influential clans as a matter of interest, but I don't participate in the on-going price manipulation. 'Stay informed so that you won't be taken by surprise when you need to buy some form of supply, only to find that it's being merchanted, but go no further than that. Gin_and_Tonic
Spend less time trying to merch and more time playing... Or, if you're really that fussed about ruining Runescape for everyone, join a clan...
gorofujita
O/T: Has anyone noticed that Chessy018 is starting to loose pull? They are trying to merch dlegs, but its failing, compared to the clan that did it before then (see the graph) Anyways the ones i know are A C I D Y and Smokin Mils, they are fairly big clans and are influential enough to do some pritty big merchs. So it's always a good idea to keep an eye on these guys
