Well, still practicing ton's on my brushing. This used to be a longer piece (1200x600) but the left side looked well... realy bad. I was croping it, and this seemed to work much better.

Weeee bit busy, but that could have been the feel you were going for, I have no idea.

As for your brushing, try not to use many brush sets unless you find a specific highlighting set for blending render (which I think I have, Ill see if I cant find it for you). Use more of the gradient circular defaults given by Photoshop. Be sure to be always changing your opacity and flow so that you get that shading from dark to opaque at the edges. You might also want to try making your own brushes per render. Like in my Boundless Dreams render, I made brushes and used different volumes of red and light red-orange to use mirrors effects. Might not work well for your render in particular, just a few ideas....

Yeah, the origonal piece was setup kind of like this:

On the left I had this big mean abstract, that then had a long chain going down to this, which was blowing up, and the explosion triggering up the chain. Bad thing was, is that the larger abstract was very... meh.

Thanks guys. By the way, just if your currious, 99% of the brushing on this I was using brushes on a grey color, and setting them to color dodge :) realy helps.

i think it looks pretty good

way way better than what i'm used to seeing from you (a long time ago) :)

Try giving it depth and mass. Messy flat renders aren't really acceptible anymore given the amount of artists out there that do them. Perspective can easily be rendered by using color alterations and haze or blur.

Good luck, anyways. =)

first time ive seen u for ages chicken.

It's been .. a year? I don't know, a long time then, since i've visited this site. That also means that i can better distinguish any difference in your ability/skill as a graphics artist or whatever you want to call it.

I'd have to say, since i last saw your art, it's gotten a lot better (the last time would be somewhere around when you said something along the lines of "it looks like a dragon to me" or something to something to made.)

Anyway, a few things which might help you along..

Color, the first thing i look for in an abstract work is the use of color, hopefully more then one, im not talking about a fricking rainbow, but a good dosage of color is always great, provided it adds to the piece. Color is probably one of the main (among many) factors which causes gives me a "good" or "possibly top notch artist" impression.

Focal point, well, you could say you have a focal point, but a more defined one would be better, and preferably one which gets the point (if any) across.

It's 1am now, and im not used to sleeping late yet (it's an art, i tell you.) so please forgive any discrepancies in my post, if any, and have a good night, afternoon or morning.
