IE8: Dawn of stupidity

Featured Replies

Well, IE8 was forcibly installed on my computer with a windows update, and I believe I am hating it.

Let's see... For starters:

1. Tab switching and switching between other !E8 browsers takes very long, sometimes I click on it and while the buttons on the taskbar react, it could be minutes before the browser is switched.

2. Most toolbar add-ons are not compatible.

3. When in doubt, what should Microsoft do? Close the damn thing, of course! The result? Tabs and even entire browsers trying to close themselves constantly.

All these bugs make me wonder if Microsoft actually beta tested this thing or they released it on impulse because they found a check for $10k.

Can anyone help me switch back to IE7? I'd switch to another browser, but many of them lack necessary add-ons only IE by default comes with (ruby, flash). Unless somebody could find me a complete add-on pack for Firefox? Thanks ::' .

Also, if it pleases you guys, you may shame this revolutionary browser all you want.

Jesus dude, just get firefox or something and go download flash and such. IE7 is worse than IE8. (Both are bad though).

Alright. I've started trying out Firefox. The only issue so far (besides add-ons) is that I can't have multiple homepages. That or I'm an idiot. :wall:

What do you mean by multiple homepages?

You should be forced to upgrade. I am so glad Microsoft is making it difficult for average users not to install IE8. Newer software is better.

Also, the speed issue is not IE8's fault. Minutes to switch between tabs? Mine takes something like a few hundred milliseconds. Time to reinstall your OS.

Also, if the addons are not working in IE8, that is not IE's fault. That is the addon writers' poor skills who wrote the addon, or their lack of foresight on updating it to be compatible. You need to learn to place blame on the proper people.

  • Never trust anyone. You are always alone, and betrayal is inevitable.
  • Nothing is safe from the jaws of the decompiler.

It could be a combination of many things, including issues during downloading/installing. don't be so quick to bash the writers. ;)

Alright, mostly the switch over is done. Now I can't, for some reason, log in to Tif on Mozilla. It keeps showing me the "You have successfully logged in" but when I return to the Index, nothing.

Anyone know what could be causing this?

Do you have cookies enabled? You probably do. It's never the easy solution. :P
