Is school really THAT bad?

Featured Replies

I like my school, the facilities are awesome, my year is really close and we're all friendly, i have some really good friends and the lessons are generally fun. The only aspect i dislike is too much homework (so i spend all night working) and the exam hype.

Other than that i really do enjoy school.

The only thing I don't like about school is how it stretches to your personal life after school. Most obvious is homework but other things too. We started this class business selling food and if you don't stay after and help you lose points on your grade. If your late a certain amount of times or absent a certain amount of times they send a cop to your house and after that they take your drivers license. Stuff like that gets me: what happens at school should stay at school.

On a more serious note this describes me quite well:

a little geek who is in love with school and his 43 year old math teacher.

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

Early in the morning?

What are you taking about?

School starts at 9am and finishes at 3pm

Works starts at 7am and finishes at 5pm

Not at my school, i'm there for 8am, do some work til 8:30 when the day starts, finishes at 4pm then i work at school til 5 at the earliest.

I had a great time in high-school. I just started my post-secondary and although I'm not living on residence like I would like, I am having a blast so far.

I know the price. I pay it gladly.

School is awesome man. Especially in highschool, you get way more freedom. There's tons of sports you can participate in, and you can hang out with friends and such. After school is the time you rest and finish up homework and go on the computer and chat with friends. Yup, school's fun. 8)

Sup noobs.

I will say one thing, theres way too many subjects in schools now.

we could quite easily get on without most Design Tech subjects, RE doesnt need to be done either. It was something like 6 GCSEs (equivalents, was something different then) when my parents took theirs, now its 12 and a half for us. way too much unneeded subjects.

I like school. However, biology homework is currently killing me.

I agree with what you said. Its stupid how school keeps track of your life away from school.

Infact with just one week of my summer holidays left i'm actually looking forward to going back to err well it's not school it's college for me. But it's just like starting a new school. Lots of new people to meet and new thigns to do!

Yeah you meet new friends blablabla...

Or you just go on vacation were you can relax go 2 clubs earn money, meet girls and new friends..

But thats only for me in the 'big' vacation.

You're right with alot of new things but after 2 weeks me and my friends already have enough of school and want to go 2 vacation.

So I'm not really looking forward to school and I'm really happy when I'm free and I think it will stay like that. :D

I can't remember the exact breakdown of subjects at my school, but when it came to subjects which would get me an OP (you have to do 6) I had a choice of about 11 or 12. And 4 of them didn't interest me at all.

So... kind of [bleep]ed. Personally there wasn't enough IT subjects. We had IPT (Information Processing and Technology) and that was about it. Sure we had the whole 'desktop publishing' type subjects... but they were basic... and by basic i mean spending 5 hours to learn how to use MS Word. Then Excell, then something else, and none of which was very advanced.

I wish I could've gone to a more IT-orientated school but in all seriousness, they don't exist here. It's all like... sciencey stuff. If I could've done more IT subjects my grades would've been better than they were :x

no, but if you ask teachers they'd hate it, you got friends and your favourite lessons to look forward too i'm in last year of highschool nowa nd its flown by, and you can annoy teachers with annoying questionssayyy for fun if they've gone on a lesson about 1 thing then ask you what it is say dont know

I left school three years ago, and to be honest i miss it . I can remember thinking school was boring and tooo long. But know when i think of school all i can remember are good times. If i could i'd go back i would!

If I'm honest with myself, I think that my biggest fear is leaving education. Ive just started College (6th Form), and i plan to go to University. The thought that some of my friends have just got jobs and are going to be working for the rest of their lives scares me to death.

Im just glad I've realised I'm having the time of my life, without letting it slip by. :)

Would you perfer I set fire to you now, or later?

I graduated from school last year and my friend basis has less then halfed. Everyone moves away and goes to college. I went to uni for the first semester then deffered and got a full time job.

School is more of a social aspect.... and should be enjoyed while your in there.

i find alot of people go on to higher education because they are afriad to start full time work or they have nothing else to do, also i think 60% of poeple that finish uni still end up doing a 9-5.
