That chemical is nitro... but I think those are the most commonly used and effective, rock cake should be a worthy investment because it lasts forever but takes a while to lose hp. Edit: Barrel of Naptha. I glanced at the mep1 quest guide and it seems like a bit of a pain to gather the materials and make it; also you'd need to use it on fire. Hmm...
